ANALYSIS: Another day, another dinger for Matt Adams. After struggling with injury issues last season and managing just five HR and a .657 OPS, Adams has come alive like Frankenstein's monster this season; hitting seven HR and producing a .331/.386/.567 slash line in 127 AB for the Cardinals offense that currently ranks 2nd in the MLB in runs scored. Adams has an impressive .236 isolated power figure this season, which is even more impressive considering he plays in pitcher-friendly Busch Stadium where he has an OPS of 1.281. That isn't his only impressive split: Adams is dominating against both RHP and LHP against whom he has .954 and .947 OPS against. Why the big increase in power and contact? Time and health. In seasons in which he has reached at least 296 AB, Adams has never had numbers lower than 15 HR, a .284 BA, and a .779 OPS. A power hitter in a high scoring offense is never a bad idea.
