BALLER MOVE: Draft Target in Middle Rounds
ANALYSIS: Newly acquired Marlins starting pitcher Mat Latos figures to bounce back with his new team in a new division this year. Latos, 27, posted a win-loss record of 5-5 last season for Cincinnati, with an ERA of 3.25. The Alexandria, VA native was limited to only 102 1/3 innings in 2014, after pitching four full seasons from 2010 to 2013. In 2012 and 2013, Latos hurled 209 and 210 innings, respectively, while posting earned run averages of 3.48 and 3.16.
Latos also started over 30 games each year from 2010-13, and has put together an impressive resume while playing six seasons for the Padres and Reds. Long story short, Latos is a potential ace who had his last season cut short by injury, and figures to bounce back for the Marlins. Miami is hopeful to build on last year’s better-than-expected campaign, and Latos should be an integral part of a revamped Marlins squad who will compete with the Mets for a possible Wild Card berth coming out of the NL East. Draft him in the middle rounds of your drafts, and get a great return on your investment.
