Whether Marcus Semien has made a good or bad name for himself in Major League Baseball is still up for debate.
Semien is one of the least disciplined infielders in all of Major League Baseball. In the 2015 season at shortstop with the Oakland Athletics, Semien had a mind-boggling 35 errors. Thank goodness errors do not count towards a player’s fantasy value.
From an offensive perspective, Semien had the best season of his young career. His final slash line read .257/.310/.405 with 15 home runs, 65 runs scored, 45 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. He started the season on fire and after not being drafted in most leagues, his ownership skyrocketed. Fantasy owners enjoyed the hot streak for quite some time until his bat went silent. It probably had something to do with the extremely high 22.0% K%.
It is difficult to tell what is in store for Marcus Semien in 2016. Where he will hit in the lineup, how his supporting cast will perform, and whether or not his defensive struggles will contribute to depleted playing time are all serious questions fantasy owners need to be asking before draft day.
