Despite some hope that Jonathan Grimes would see an increase in usage for the Texans, his fantasy production has stalled and owners should look elsewhere for deep-league flyers. Arian Foster's injury has allowed Alfred Blue to take over as the workhorse back. Blue has put up decent enough production that Grimes won't see many more touches, let alone seize the job.
Blue hasn't looked all that great, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry this season. While Grimes' average is a yard better, he has yet to see more than seven carries in a game all season, topping out at six in four different games. Grimes also hasn't seen an increase in targets since Foster's injury. He only received one target in Week 12, and seven of his 22 targets on the season came in Week 2. Grimes is still without a TD this season. Chris Polk is also involved at RB for the Texans, leaving Grimes without enough opportunities to make a difference even in the thinnest of leagues.
Blue was limited at practice on Wednesday, and if he misses Sunday’s game against the Bills, Grimes would again start to look interesting. Watch for that news, but if Blue plays next week, make sure Grimes is not in your lineup.
