BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: If it wasn't for the fact that Jon Gray pitched in Coors Field, he would likely be owned in just about every fantasy league out there. His stuff is electric, as he averages over 95 mph on his fastball with a wipe-out slider to boot. However, Coors Field is cruel, and most of the time it is better to just avoid owning any Rockies pitcher because of it. Jon Gray is the exception to that rule.
Gray's ERA for the season sits at an inflated 4.33, but he has been much more successful as of late. After a 3 inning, 9 ER shellacking against the Cardinals on May 19th, Gray has dominated to the tune of a 4-2 record to go along with a 3.21 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 9.34 K/9 in the ten starts since. These are SP 1/2 type numbers. Additionally, Gray has performed quite admirably at home over the course of the season. His 10.07 K/9 and 3.03 FIP inside of the hitter's haven are more than respectable. He's been even more dominating at Coors lately. Over his last five games pitched at home, he has pitched to an exceptional 2.99 ERA and 9.51 K/9. He goes up against some weak offenses in the coming days, as he is on track to pitch against Atlanta (#30 in runs scored), the New York Mets (#28 in runs scored), and the Los Angeles Dodgers (#19 in runs scored) in his next three tries. Don't let the fact that he pitches for the Rockies scare you from picking him up, as Jon Gray has been absolutely dominating for the better part of 2016 and will be a much needed shot in the arm for teams who need starting pitching down the stretch.
