The Chicago Bears are coming off of their biggest win of the year, a game in which they defeated division rival Green Bay on Thanksgiving. The Bears didn't play an amazing game, but they did enough to win. The Bears are seeking a second-straight win this week against a new-look San Francisco 49ers team.
When Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery are both healthy and on the field, the Bears' offense looks great. Jeffery gives Cutler a big downfield target and play-maker to throw to, and many of the other skill players benefit from Jeffery's presence. The only problem is Jeffery can't stay healthy--he's already missed five games this year due to soft tissue injuries. Jeffery was able to return to action last week against the Packers after missing Week 11 against Denver, and he put up a decent stat line (seven grabs for 90 yards). The great thing about Jeffery is that he's a target monster and generally sees double-digit targets every week.
This week's matchup against the 49ers should yield benefits for both Cutler and Jeffery, as the 49ers defense ranks 28th in passing yards allowed per game with nearly 277 per contest. The 49ers are also giving up nearly 25 points per game, which ranks 21st in the league. They also only have seven interceptions this season, which ranks 25th in the league, and Jay Culter has only thrown six picks all season long.
The Bears have a favorable matchup at home, and I fully expect their offense to pick apart the 49ers. If you own Cutler or Jeffery, I believe they are must-starts this week. I'm predicting Cutler and Jeffery both have their best statistical games of the season this week. I believe Cutler will throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns with no picks, and I believe Jeffery will catch 10 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
