Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has confirmed the team will start Chris Johnson at running back this week against the St. Louis Rams, despite Andre Ellington likely returning. Ellington suffered an injury in Week 1 causing him to sit out a couple of games, and Johnson has made good with the opportunity given to him during the last two weeks.
Johnson looked to be on his way out of the league following a disappointing year with the New York Jets last season, but has landed an opportunity to rejuvenate his career and start for one of the best teams in the league. Johnson has 222 total yards and two touchdowns scored in his two games as starting running back - and the Cardinals have scored a total of 95 points in those two games, so why mess with success?
Ellington is expected to make his return, barring an unexpected setback, but will serve as the backup this week. Arizona's offense has been great enough that two Cardinals running backs could hold fantasy value this season - but Johnson has looked solid, and may have to now se the job for Ellington to once again become the full-time starter.
