This week featured a couple of huge performances from the quarterback position, and one solid performance from a quarterback who hasn’t thrown a pick since the beginning of October.
Cam Newton helped lead the Panthers to victory over the New Orleans Saints, continuing their undefeated season with a five touchdown, 331 yard, and one interception performance. Newton also added 49 yards on the ground.
Sunday’s performance was a major bounceback from his Thanksgiving performance against the Cowboys, in which he threw for zero touchdowns, despite rushing for a touchdown on the ground. Cam Newton is having an MVP-worthy season, and is a bonafide QB1 in fantasy,
Blake Bortles had a huge game against the Tennessee Titans, passing for a career-high five touchdowns, 322 yards, and no interceptions in a 39-42 loss. Bortles’ performance was the polar opposite of his performance a couple weeks ago against the Titans, when he threw for just one touchdown and one interception.
Despite the loss, Bortles showcased a great ability to sling the rock across the field, especially to one of the best young receivers in the league; Allen Robinson. Bortles has established himself as a solid QB1 for years to come.
Tyrod Taylor is another quarterback who had a solid performance in a loss, passing for three touchdowns, 291 yards, and no interceptions in a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor also added 28 yards rushing, adding to his solid performance.
Taylor hasn’t thrown a pick since Oct. 4 against the New York Giants, making him a low-risk option at the quarterback position. Though he hasn’t put up huge performances this season, he is definitely a playable option if you are in a bind.
