Boy, Saturday sure was a great day.
As fans, we loved all the upsets and, thus, upheaval among the top teams.
As the guys who put together the weekly rankings for Rotoballer, however? Not so much.
Ah well, there are worse jobs.
Here's our Top 10 after another crazy weekend as of November 6, 2017 (with won-loss records in parentheses).
NCAA College Football (CFB) Rankings
1. Alabama, (9-0)
Yeah, the BCS Committee has the Tide at #2. Well, to heck with the Committee--'Bama is a machine. And so is the "Doctor," better known as linebacker Rahsaan Evans, who had 10 tackles and a sack against LSU on Saturday night.
2. Georgia, (9-0)
Although, in fairness to the Committee, we're not saying the Bulldogs aren't any good. Any team with Nick Chubb (20 carries, 102 yards vs. South Carolina) is going to have some success. The SEC Championship Game already looks like a classic.
3. Wisconsin, (9-0)
Ohio State? Pfft. Penn State? Pfft. The Badgers are the only Big 10 team left standing--and we all know how much the Committee loves the Big 10. And Jonathan Taylor (29 carries, 183 yards, TD vs. Indiana on Saturday) could start getting Heisman mentions.
4. Oklahoma, (8-1)
We know. We can hear the hue and cry already. What about Notre Dame? Look, no one's forgetting the Irish. Heck, the Committee--here we go again--loves them. But here at Rotoballer, we love Baker Mayfield (24-36, 598 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs in "Bedlam"), and we'd love to see any team take them on.
5. Clemson, (8-1)
Dammit, what about the Irish? Don't worry. They're coming. And so is Clemson. QB Kelly Bryant (191 passing yards, 88 rushing yards) is doing what needs to be done, and we believe that if the defending champs win out, they'll be in the playoff.
6. Notre Dame, (8-1)
Happy now? Actually, if you're a Notre Dame fan, probably not. In addition to having a great name, Irish (?) QB Brandon Wimbush has a great game, as illustrated by his 280 passing yards and 110 rushing yards against Wake Forest on Saturday.
7. Miami, (8-0)
A lot of the so-called experts said Hurricanes' QB Malik Rosier wouldn't be able to solve Virginia Tech's defense. He didn't have a great night on Saturday (10-21, 191 yards, 2 TDs, 3 picks), but he played well enough to win... again.
8. TCU, (8-1)
We're keeping the Horned Frogs at #8 because a win against Texas, at home, at this point is sort of ho-hum. Darius Anderson (18 carries, 99 yards, TD) sure made it look easy anyway.
9. Washington, (8-1)
We don't really like the Huskies--they're more like Pugs, really--but we do like RB Myles Gaskin (17 carries, 123 yards, TD vs. Oregon), and we know that pesky Committee will take a long look at the team that wins the Pac-12, even if they have one loss.
10. Oklahoma State, (7-2)
Wait, the Pokes weren't in your rankings last week, and they lost on Saturday. At home no less. How can you have them in your top 10 this week? Well, hey, if you think our picks are strange, wait until you see the Committee's. Look, we took a long look at all the two-loss teams out there, and the still-undefeated UCF. But, none of them have Mason Rudolph (28-54, 448 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs in Bedlam) or Justice Hill (30 carries, 228 yards, 2 TDs in the same game). So what if we're crazy?
