Hitter Streamers for 8/12 - Shallow Leagues
Austin Nola (C, SD) - 39% rostered
Matchup: @ ARI Tyler Gilbert
Austin Nola is starting to find his groove after a long injury layover. The Padres' backstop is slashing .500/.517/.615 with a 1.132 ISO over his last 26 ABs. He's been so successful, all without smacking an HR but rather spraying the ball to all fields and collecting counting stats. Lastly, his matchup is against an SP that hasn't gone past the third inning and a bullpen with a 4.83 xFIP(second-highest in the MLB).
Cesar Hernandez (2B, CWS) - 41% rostered
Matchup: vs. LHP Andrew Heaney
Hernandez has been a spectacular addition to the White Sox. He slots perfectly into the two-hole and adding a little thump to an already potent offense. Additionally, this is a great spot to stream Cesar because he crushes southpaws. He has an OPS north of .820, and Andrew Heaney is well-versed in allowing HRs. Plug him in if you're looking for a middle infield to provide HRs and counting stats.
Abraham Toro (2B/3B, SEA) - 44% rostered
Matchup: vs. RHP Mike Foltynewicz
Toro has been a beast since joining Seattle. The power has increased and with it, so have the HRs. In the last month, Toro is 26-for-77 with six HRs and a .983 OPS. Furthermore, he is showcasing more patient plate discipline with a 27:14 K/BB rate. He gets a matchup against the SP, whose pace allows the most HRs by any pitcher in an MLB season. This is a terrific spot for streaming Toro.
Hunter Renfroe (OF, BOS) - 43% rostered
Matchup: vs. RHP Drew Rasmussen
Renfroe was a platoon bat for most of his MLB career and could also play a solid outfield. He still roams the outfield for Boston; however, he is no longer platooning. The main reason is Renfroe is showing power vs. righties(12 HR) and lefties(7 HR). Unfortunately, this is a bullpen game with Rasmussen getting the first inning; after him is anyone's guesses. Let's hope Renfroe continues to showcase the power today.
Joc Pederson (1B/OF, ATL) - 35% rostered
Matchup: vs. RHP Vladimir Gutierrez
Joc is a streaky power bat that Atlanta added to bolster an injury-riddled outfield. He is mainly implemented in situations for right-handed pitching because he struggles against southpaws. Today is a good spot for Joc, as Gutierrez takes the bump in Cinci, one of the most hitter-friendly environments and perfect for flyball hitters like Pederson.
Hitter Streamers for 8/12 - Deeper Leagues
Mitch Moreland (1B, OAK) - 1% rostered
Matchup: @ RHP Eli Morgan
Deep leagues are tougher to find 1B, but Moreland has a good shot to take one deep today. He has shown the ability to mash RHP over his career. This season hasn't been as fruitful, but he does have five HRs in 159 ABs. Keep in mind, at this point in his career, Moreland is a platoon bat barreling the ball 8.4% of the time-still plenty of thump there. His opposition, Eli Morgan, loves to pound the zone with fastballs and try to get batters to chase breakers. Let's hope Moreland connects with one of those fastballs.
Yadiel Hernandez (OF, WAS) - 7% rostered
Matchup: @ RHP Marcus Stroman, @ RHP Trevor Williams
It's a double-header today, so there is a chance Hernandez gets to play in both games. While double-headers are only seven innings now, that would allow him 14 innings of opportunities to get ABs. This could be a great streamer to pick up extra counting stats and maybe even chip in a steal. Also, Yadiel is slugging over .600 in his last 41 ABs.
Pitcher Streamers for 8/12 - Shallow Leagues
Kyle Muller (SP, CIN) - 35% rostered
Matchup: vs. Cincinnati Red
Kyle Muller's arsenal consists of a solid 94-mph four-seamer that he commands well enough to keep in the zone 43% of the time. This is great because he generates a strike from this pitch 60% of the time, meaning plenty of batters are chasing it. Next, his two breakers have a CSW over 30% and limit batters to hitting under .132 against both pitches. Lastly, he drops a curveball every so often to right-handed bats to keep them honest. All put together; he can pile up the Ks in a hurry. However, the only down-tick might be the lack of innings since he is yet to make it six innings.
Pitcher Streamers for 8/12 - Deeper Leagues
JT Brubaker (SP, MIA) - 15% rostered
Matchup: vs. St Louis Cardinals
Contrary to Muller, JT Brubaker gets a full leash and typically goes five to six innings per start. He is mainly a fastball(49%) and slider(34%) of the time. For a successful outing, he needs to rely a bit more on the slider, which he uses to neutralize batters from either side of the dish. Lastly, over the last 14 days, St Louis has been an efficient offense, but the strikeouts rate is slightly higher than 25%. This could be a decent spot to pick up a few Ks and steal a W against a division rival.
