FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (5/10/17): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

Kevin Luchansky highlights the top FanDuel NBA DFS lineup picks for 5/10/17, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your roster.

FanDuel finally decided to shake things up in the NBA world with the late-swap option. This, of course, gives way to better two-day tournament slates, which is what we find ourselves with again tonight. The two-day slate tips off at 8pm Eastern tonight with a pivotal game five between the Wizards at Celtics and wraps up tomorrow evening with game six of the Spurs and Rockets.

Shout out to the San Antonio and Houston for that thriller last night - one the NBA playoffs really needed after so many duds and blowouts. I hope that trend continues tonight and I have a feeling it will.

In this article, I will be providing you with daily NBA lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/10/17. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

 

FanDuel DFS Guards

John Wall - PG, at BOS ($10,600)

Are you not entertained? Wall has displayed brilliant passing and ball-handling over the past few nights. Few others can deliver that kind of experience and he's really found his groove after a few somewhat disappointing fantasy outputs in round one. Even with his increasing salary, Wall has been able to outperform salary based expectations in four of the last five games, and he's done so by a pretty impressive margin in three of those five. In comparison to the other elite point guard on the slate - Isiah Thomas - Wall gets the edge for me, even with the higher price, thanks to his ability to rack up a higher assist count on a regular basis, more solidified minutes (Thomas' minutes have been trending down) and his projected Usage rate (32.3) is highest among all point guards.

Also Consider: Patty Mills - PG, at HOU ($4,600)

 

Eric Gordon - SG, vs SAS ($5,200)

I saw something I loved from Eric Gordon last night: lots of minutes! Yes, there was an overtime, but you don't come close to playing 43+ minutes without having played a major allotment in regulation, which is just what Gordon did after receiving the game five start. I also saw something that was both disappointing and reason to be optimistic going forward - tons of shot attempts - but unfortunately not many fell. Gordon wound up 4-for-13 from the field (including 1-for-6 from three point land) and somehow still managed to hit his price implied value. Now that Gordon's minutes look more solidified - along with his role as an offensive option with the first unit and the main cog of the second unit - he becomes more attractive in both cash games and tournaments. At this price point, I think he can easily hit value and if he shoots just around his average he'll crush value.

Also Consider: Bradley Beal - SG, at BOS ($7,900)

 

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Jonathon Simmons - SF, vs HOU ($2,500)

Can anyone honestly tell me they saw this coming? Specifically, that the Spurs would bring their rotation down to just seven guys - and Simmons would be a major contributor among the seven? All Simmons has done in this series is crush his price implied value in all five games. Sure, it's easier to do with such a minuscule price, but until it's raised to a level more equal to his output, the time is right to exploit. He's displayed an ability to get the rim, he's certainly not afraid to look for his shot (12 and 14 shot attempts in past two games, respectively) and he could see an increased role if Kawhi Leonard isn't fully healthy by tomorrow night.

Also Consider: Otto Porter - SF, at BOS ($5,400)

 

Ryan Anderson - PF, vs SAS ($4,200)

There was a lot of talk about Anderson seeing a much lower minutes total, seeing as he was pushed to the second unit and was going to be playing slightly out of position at the five spot. That didn't end up being the case, however, as the Rockets leaned on Anderson for scoring (7-for-11 from the field) and relied on him to play a much bigger role than was being rumored (34+ minutes on the floor). He certainly carries some risk as he is fairly shot-reliant to hit and surpass value, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. His ceiling is as high as ever and he can exploit the defensive matchups he's getting when playing out of the position, just as he did last night en route to a lot of wide open looks.

Also Consider: Markieff Morris - PF, at BOS ($5,500)

 

FanDuel DFS Centers

Marcin Gortat - C, at BOS ($5,300)

Hopefully FanDuel isn't pulling a fast one on us with this pricing, because this is far too low for Gortat to be priced. Gortat failed to hit salary based expectations the last time out, but he did so only by a small margin and a little bit of bad bounce luck, as he only pulled down 7 boards (whereas he's normally a shoe-in for double digits against this Boston squad). I think he'll bounce back in a pretty big way tonight and part of that confidence is due to the fact that he's involved in this offense but not totally reliant on shots falling for him to be a fantasy point contributor. I think he's the best bargain of the center position and his only equal counterpart in expected minutes is Al Horford, who is priced $2,800 dollars higher.

Also Consider: Pau Gasol - C, at HOU ($5,800)
