FanDuel MLB Lineup Picks (7/25/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

JorgePucks highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 7/25/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Hello RotoBallers! We have a nice-sized Sunday main slate to dissect with lots of batting and pitching options for us to consider. We have some good pitching options on this slate so we will need to figure out which one can get us a few strikeouts and a win while also choosing between some great offenses like Houston, San Diego, and Toronto to choose from.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 7/25/21. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Zack Greinke - HOU vs. TEX ($8,400)

For the price point and matchup, Greinke looks to be one of the best options on the entire slate. He is 9-3 on the season with 10 quality starts while having a solid 3.58 ERA. In the matchup against the Rangers, he is actually 2-0 on the season with six runs allowed and nine strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched. Texas has been one of the worst teams in baseball when it comes to facing right-handed pitching as they are hitting .223 as a team against the handedness while having the 10th highest strikeout percentage (24.7%) and the 22nd best ISO of .153. If Greinke can navigate around Texas's big bats like Joey Gallo and Adolis Garcia, he should have a productive afternoon.

Alternate Play(s)

Yu Darvish - SDP @ MIA ($10,300)

Darvish is the highest-priced pitcher on the slate but he is also in a favorable matchup against the Miami Marlins so he is worth the high price tag. The one thing to note with Darvish is that he hasn't been in the best of form recently as he has allowed 12 runs over his last 14.2 innings pitched but this can all be corrected against Miami. They have struggled to generate power against right-handed pitching as they have a team ISO of just .136 and have a 25.4% strikeout percentage which is top 10 in the league against righty pitchers. This is a very right-handed heavy Marlins lineup and Darvish has fared well against righties as he has held them to a .224 batting average and a 32.5% strikeout percentage so there is upside in this matchup.

Other recommended value pitching options: Sonny Gray vs. St. Louis Cardinals, Touki Toussaint vs. Philadelphia Phillies

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Yuli Gurriel - 1B, HOU vs. TEX ($2,700)

Gurriel looks to be drastically under-priced in this matchup against lefty Taylor Hearn. Gurriel is hitting .306 when it comes to facing left-handed pitchers while having the second-most home runs hit against this handedness on the Astros. He should be batting in the heart of the Houston lineup and has a .238 ISO against lefties and a .556 ISO against Hearn's fastball pitch type which he throws to righties 56% of the time.

Jonathan Schoop - 2B/1B, DET @KCR ($3,500)

When there is a lefty pitcher on the mound against the Tigers, several Tiger bats are certainly in play and Jonatha Schoop is one that should be looked at. He is hitting .337 and has an ISO of .208 against the handedness this year and matches up well against Daniel Lynch who will be on the mound for the Royals. Lynch throws his fastball 50% of the time to right-handed batters and Schoop sports a .333 ISO and a .639 XwOBA against his fastball pitch type.

Kris Bryant - 3B/OF, CHC vs. ARI ($3,600)

One Cubs bat that is worth consideration is Kris Bryant. He has fared really well against lefties this year as he is tied for the highest batting average (.333) against the split while also remains tied for the most home runs on the Cubs team against lefty pitchers (7). Caleb Smith will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks and he has coughed it up to righty batters as 10 out of his 12 home runs allowed have come from the right side of the plate.

Carlos Correa- SS, HOU vs. TEX ($3,000)

Another Houston bat that should really be considered is Carlos Correa. He is another Astros bat that hits left-handed pitching well as he has a .286 batting average and a 43.7% hard-hit percentage against that handedness. Just like Gurriel, he profiles extremely well against the fastball that Hearns throws as he has a .615 ISO and a .790 XwOBA against that specific pitch type so he could really do some damage at that price point.

 

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Austin Meadows - OF, TBR @ CLE ($3,300)

Meadows is coming off of a monster game on Saturday night as he crushed two home runs which broke a month-long home run cold spell. He is heating back up at the plate as he has now recorded a hit in five straight games and matches up well against righty Tristan McKenzie. Meadows has a .265 ISO  against righties this year and McKenzie throws his fastball 60% of the time to lefty batters and Meadows looks very good against his fastball pitch type as he has a .706 ISO and a .528 XwOBA. At his price point, he looks to be a lock for all formats.

Eric Haase - C/OF, DET @ KCR ($2,800)

Haase could be one of the best overall values on the slate and should easily be considered in all formats. He is hitting .338 while also having an ISO of .468 against lefty pitchers this year and is sporting a 50% hard-hit percentage against this handedness. Lynch has a mixture of pitches to righties but right-handed batters have found a way to hit him as they have a collective .286 ISO and a 53.3% hard-hit percentage against him.

Jarren Duran – OF, BOS vs. NYY (2,500)

The pricing on Durran is still down which makes him a viable punt option in the outfield. He has now scored a run in five out of six games played and should continue to see his name close to the top of the batting order. He has a .400 ISO in a limited sample size but if he continues to draw a good spot in the lineup in front of Bogaerts, Martinez, and Devers, he should continue to see good quality pitches which will only help him from a fantasy standpoint.
