Tonight's main slate features nine games to choose from. There are plenty of high-end starting pitching options available, which feels like a rare sight at this point in the season.
There aren't too many chalky stack options to pick hitters from, so there will be plenty of hitter combinations to get creative with.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 9/16/2020. FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Dylan Bundy - LAA vs ARI ($9,800)
Bundy is having a dominant season with a 2.48 ERA and a 2.67 FIP through nine starts. He's struck out 29.3% of batters while walking just 5.7%. Bundy gets a tremendous matchup against the Diamondbacks, who are a bottom-five lineup against right-handed pitching with a .303 wOBA. Going with Bundy is a nice pivot play from more expensive starters in Jacob deGrom and Gerrit Cole, who may both end up being rostered by more teams than Bundy.
Lance McCullers Jr. - HOU vs TEX ($8,100)
McCullers is having a rough year and is certainly a risky play, but this is a great time to buy low. It's possible that McCullers will return to form after having surgery to alleviate neck pain, which was likely hindering his performance. In any case, this is a terrific spot against the Rangers, who have an abysmal .285 wOBA against righties. They also strike out 24.5% of the time. McCullers is a high upside play to consider in lineups where you don't want to spend a ton on your starter.
FanDuel DFS Infielders
Brandon Belt, 1B - SFG at SEA ($2,800)
Somehow Belt continues to get underpriced on FanDuel, as he's crushing righties this year to the tune of a 185 wRC+. He should continue to rake against opposing starter Ljay Newsome, who has just 8 1/3 big league innings under his belt. Tonight's Giants-Mariners game is being played in San Francisco, so there's no need to worry about another postponement.
Robinson Cano, 2B - NYM at PHI ($3,000)
The Mets are a contrarian stack option against Zack Wheeler in a hitter-friendly park in Philadelphia. Wheeler has had strong results, but he's only striking out 17.6% of batters, so it's possible he gets hit around by a tough Mets lineup. Cano is in a nice spot to drive in some runs batting fifth and he can be paired with other affordable options like J.D. Davis.
Alex Bregman, 3B - HOU vs TEX ($3,400)
Bregman and the Astros should dominate against Kyle Gibson, who is one of the weakest starters on the slate. Gibson has a brutal 6.14 ERA and a 2.05 HR/9. The cleanup spot will provide Bregman with lots of run and RBI opportunities. While he's been cold since returning from injury, it's tough to be worried about an elite hitter like Bregman.
Francisco Lindor, SS - CLE at CHC ($3,300)
Lindor is extremely hot right now, as he's coming off a homer and a steal last night and is batting .347 over the last two weeks. He's striking out just 5.8% of the time against lefties, so he should definitely put the ball in play against Jon Lester. Lester has a 5.05 ERA with just an 18.1% K-rate, so Lindor has tons of upside batting leadoff against him.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Giancarlo Stanton, OF - NYY vs TOR ($3,500)
Now that Stanton is back he immediately becomes a GPP power play, as almost nobody in the sport has home run potential like Stanton on any given night. He is in a perfect spot against Tanner Roark, who has a 6.82 FIP and a 2.55 HR/9. It's entirely possible that Stanton's price only goes up from here, so get him while you can afford him.
Whit Merrifield, OF - KAN @ DET ($3,300)
Merrifield is an awesome play in cash games for his high floor against left-handed pitching. He's got an .822 OPS against lefties and faces on in Tarik Skubal, owner of a 7.27 ERA. Merrifield will see more plate appearances as a leadoff hitter, as well as chances to score, which makes him a safe play.
Justin Upton, OF - LAA vs ARI ($2,600)
Don't look now, but Upton's finally heating up at the plate, batting .333 over the last two weeks. Upton has been better against lefties throughout his career and faces one in Caleb Smith, who walked six batters in an ugly start last time out. Upton is a super cheap GPP power flier.
