FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (8/18/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Patrick Kane leads the way in NHL DFS on Monday night.

Andrew Lennox's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 8/18/20. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

Tuesday brings four more first-round matchups featuring Montreal-Philadelphia along with Dallas squaring off against Calgary.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now more offense in the league than ever before.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/18/20. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @awlenn. Let's go!!

DFS Forwards to Consider

Alex Ovechkin  - LW, NYI vs. WAS (FD - $8,400, DK - $8,600)

Its do or die for the Washington Capitals as they try to avoid being swept by the New York Islanders. Ovechkin hasn't played particularly well this summer. However, he does have two goals and an assist in his last two games. Regardless of what happens in the game, Ovechkin loves to fire the biscuit. Plenty of shots on goal for the legendary sniper means more points for your DFS lineup.

Patrick Kane - RW, VGK vs. CHI (FD - $8,100, DK - $7,200)

Winger Patrick Kane does have eight points in eight postseason games for the Hawks. The issue is of those eight points, Kane only has one goal. The Knights have to be concerned that this prolific goal scorer is due for a breakout game. If Chicago wants to extend their stay in the bubble, they will need goals from him and veteran center Jonathan Toews.

Others To Consider:

San Jose made a mistake in letting Joe Pavelski walk via free agency. He has been a consistent performer throughout his career.  Pavelski has added five goals in seven postseason games for Dallas.

Calgary Flames Sean Monahan leads his team in playoff points with two goals and six assists. Monahan had two assists against Dallas on Sunday.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Shea Theodore - D, VGK vs. CHI  (FD - $5,800, DK - $6,300)

Defenseman Shea Theodore and the Vegas Golden Knights are looking to clinch their first-round series against the Chicago Blackhawks. Vegas is up 3-1 going into Game 5. Shea Theodore has been a critical component of Vegas blueline throughout round-robin and the first round of the playoffs. Theodore has four goals and two assists in seven postseason games. Two of Theodore's four playoffs goals have come against Chicago. In Game 5, he was on the ice for 33 shifts logging 25:59 minutes of ice time.

Miro Heiskanen - D, DAL vs. CGY (FD - $5,100, DK - $5,400)

Hesiskananen has been excellent for the Stars through seven playoff games. The Stars defenseman leads his team in points with two goals and six assists. He is often paired with Jamie Oleksiak and will see time on Dallas's second power-play unit.

Other choices for Tuesday may include  Nate Schmidt, John Carlson, Shea Weber, Rasmus Andersson, Duncan Keith, Ryan Pulock, John Klingberg.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Semyon Varlamov - G, NYI vs. WAS (FD - $8,400, DK - $7,700)

Former Avalanche netminder Semyon Varlamov's outstanding play is a big reason why the Islanders could sweep the Capitals. Varmalov has started all seven games for the Islanders with a record of six wins and just one loss. Even more impressive is his goals-against average of 1.51.

Flyer’s goalie Carter Hart should be considered for your DFS lineup. Hart recorded a shutout in Game 3 after a terrible outing in Game 2.

Regardless of who is between the pipes for Vegas, you can't really go wrong with Robin Lehner or Marc-Andre Fleury as your DFS goalie.
