FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (8/17/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Andrew Lennox's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 8/17/20. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

Another exciting weekend of playoff hockey is in the books! Monday brings four more first-round matchups featuring  Colorado-Arizona along with Boston squaring off against Carolina.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now more offense in the league than ever before.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/17/20. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @awlenn. Let's go!!

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs. ARI (FD - $8,800, DK - $8,500)

Nathan MacKinnon should be an automatic pick for your DFS lineup when the Colorado Avalanche is in action. MacKinnon has recorded two goals and five assists in six post-season games. In those six games,  the Avalanche centerman has 25 shots on goal with 46 shots attempted. More of MacKinnon's shots would have most certainly reached the back of the net if he wasn't facing off against Coyotes netminder Darcy Kuemper this series. Avs fans hope MacKinnon can get on the board against Darcy Kuemper and the Arizona Coyotes in Game 4.

Bo Horvat - C, Van vs. STL (FD - $6,600, DK - $6,000)

Vancouver Captain Bo Horvat has played a massive role in this year's team playoff success. The London Ontario native has recorded six goals and added one assist. He has scored some beautiful goals, including two that were game-winners.

Others To Consider:

Mikko Rantanen has two goals and four assists with a shooting percentage of 11.1%.

It may be worth exploring Elias Pettersson. Like Bo Horvat, The Canucks forwards play has improved with each Canucks playoff game. Pettersson has three goals and four assists in six games.

A player to consider is Boston center, Patrice Bergeron. Bergeron's game has been steadily getting better with every Bruin post-season game.

Carolina's Sebastian Aho leads the NHL playoffs in points with three goals and seven assists in ten game games.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Quinn Hughes - D, Van vs. STL (FD - $5,500, DK - $5,200)

Defenseman Quinn Hughes's playoff play has been impressive for the Canucks. The Orlando, Florida native has a goal and seven assists in just six games. He should continue to add to his point total as the Canucks are up 2-0 against a St. Louis Blues team who has yet to win a game this summer.

Victor Hedman - D, TB vs CLB (FD - $6,500, DK - $5,700)

Tampa Bay's Vitor Hedman should be considered for your Monday DFS lineup. Hedman had a tally and four shots on goal with 22:19 of ice time on 8/15 against Columbus.

Other choices for Monday may include Cale Makar, Alex Pietrangelo, Colton Parayko, Seth Jones, Charlie McAvoy, Dougie Hamilton.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Darcy Kuemper - G, ARI vs COL (FD - $7,500, DK - $6,900)

Despite, Darcy Kuempers Coyotes being down 2-1 to the Avalanche in the series, Kuemper's play has still been excellent. In game 3, Colorado's offensive pressure was relentless, but Kuemper still managed to save 49 of 51 Avalanche shots on goal. It's now the fifth time in the last seven games that Kuemper has faced at least 40 shots on goal.

Keep an eye on Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. Korpisalo has been lights out for Columbus with a record of 3-3 with two shutouts in seven games. He has faced 273 shots on goal and made 261 saves.

Vancouver's Jacob Markstrom should be considered for your DFS lineup. Markstrom is 5-1 with a .926 SV% and a 2.31 GAA.
