FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (5/4/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Saturday features two pivotal Game 5's. Boston and San Jose host these important games. Meanwhile, Columbus and San Jose try to bounce back after subpar efforts in Game 4.

Remember, when picking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. Both of the games on the Saturday slate feature an over/under of 5.5. Expect that number to stick.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/4/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs SJS (FD - $9,200, DK - $7,300)

MacKinnon skates downhill with a ferocity very few can come close to matching. The center has been amazingly consistent over the last three games of this series. It is difficult to fade him in any way at this juncture. His ability, quick release, and resolve have dragged Colorado back into this series after a lackluster Game 3. Paying the expensive price as a one-off is still a wise choice on Saturday night. Logan Couture has to be looked at as a viable option to be stacked along with Timo Meier perhaps from San Jose.

David Pastrnak - W, BOS vs CBJ  (FD - $8,500, DK - $6,500)

The winger had a bit of a stinker in Game 3 but still had three scoring chances and three shots on net. It felt like a blip on the radar as the forward still has two goals and three points in his last three games. Hopefully, the trend continues for the winger, who has 11 shots in the previous three contests as well. Pastrnak's shot velocity has dropped and it is noticeable. His changeup is still better than most players' slap shot. Fortunately, the forward's ability to find space on the power play helps lead to better chances closer to the net. For a cheaper option, Artemi Panarin is a cheaper option as hard as that is to believe.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Matt Grzelcyk - D, BOS vs CLB (FD - $3,900, DK - $3,700)

Grzelcyk fired in five shots on Thursday night. That is seemingly what the Bruins' defenseman does lately. He is averaging value per contest not necessarily value plus. Now, that's alright in the playoffs because the consistency is something good to count on. The third-pairing blueliner tallied 13 shots in the previous three contests on a half dozen scoring chances. Looking towards Boston's depth may be a wise yet contrarian move on Saturday for Game 5. As for San Jose, expect Brent Burns to have a better effort among the high-priced defensemen.

David Savard - D, CLB vs BOS (FD - $3,800, DK - $4,100)

Savard functions as a value defensive play again on Saturday night. His floor is a solid 4.6 shots and blocked shots per game over his previous ten matches. The veteran defenseman finds ways to jump into the play and can always be a threat to garner an assist (six points in his last nine games). The opportunistic side has not found the scoresheet yet but Savard has been close several times in the past couple games.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Martin Jones - G, SJS vs COL (FD - $8,400, DK - $7,700)

Jones improved greatly over the past four games against Colorado. He has not allowed more than three goals in any game and yet has not been tested too much (28.25 shots faced per night). The goalie makes the saves he should make. That has been the mantra of the San Jose goaltender this series. It is completely unlike what Jones did against Vegas. Fortunately, San Jose facing a young Colorado team could be highly beneficial to Jones. Taking advantage of a team's overexuberance and nerves could mean a better chance at a win for San Jose.
