We are finally here. The NHL Playoffs are here and the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup is upon us and we have two games on the second day to keep things going. Smaller slates mean fewer options at each position, but a chance to take a stand on your favorite plays.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/2/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. DFS Forwards to Consider
Brad Marchand - W, BOS @ CLS (FD - $7,600, DK - $6,400)
What is it to be called a "heel"? An antagonist, the bad guy, or the villain. You get the point. Well, if you are following the playoffs you should know by now that Marchand laid a questionable punch to the back of Blue Jackets player the other night. There is no doubt that Marchand is in for a tough game tonight, but in reality, the Bruins need their player who scored over 30 goals in the regular season to step up so they avoid going down 3-1. He doesn't have a point so far this series and that simply needs to change tonight.
Logan Couture - C, SJ @ COL (FD - $8,000, DK - $6,200)
Couture has nine goals in 10 games this postseason, which is simply and unbelieve amount of production for the toughest time of the season. He posted a hat-trick in the Sharks most recent game and while that production won't be there every single night, he has shown to have multi-point potential throughout the playoffs.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Cale Makar - D, COL vs SJ (FD - $3,600, DK - $4,200)
Makar has three points in his last four games which is super impressive considering he was in college just a few weeks ago. The Hobey Baker winner is seeing time on the third defensive pairing which isn't great, but he is on the second power-play, giving him a bit of upside at his cheaper price point.
David Savard - D, CLS vs BOS (FD - $3,700, DK - $4,000)
Savard has been pretty consistent for the Blue Jackets throughout the playoffs and comes in with multiple shots in two straight games against the Bruins while having two or more blocked shot in each of the three games this series. That is respectable production for a player who doesn't see any power-play time and isn't really known for his offensive output.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Tuukka Rask - G, BOS @ CLS (FD - $8,100, DK - $7,500)
Rask is one of the two cheapest goalies on DraftKings tonight, I know that's not saying a whole lot with only two games, but saving $500 could go further than you think. The Bruins are only +100 on the road and this game does have a lower over-under compared to the Avalanche vs Sharks game. Take the desperate nature of the Bruins and go with Rask to pick up the win.
