FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (1/30/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

We have a MASSIVE 12 game slate tonight, and there are good options on the board. Stacking will be big tonight, so look for some value where you can, and then load up on the star skaters where you can afford them.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/30/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

John Tavares - C, NYI vs FLA (DK - $7,700, FD - $8,400)

I often write about Tavares, because he is one of the more consistent options at the center spot, and tonight is no different. The Islanders are starting off the second part of their season at home, where they are scoring overt 3.5 goals per game. Most of the goals from the Islanders come from the top tow lines, so you are going to have to spend up to get them. Tavares has so many factors going for him, so let's dive in. Tavares is one the first forward line, the first power-play line, he is taking at least three shots per game, and has a Corsi For % of at least 80. Simply one of the best options you can get at center tonight, but super expensive, so find the savings elsewhere to get to his price.

Mikael Granlund - W, MIN @ CLS (DK - $6,000, FD - $7,100)

Granlund is up against the Blue Jackets, who got off to a hot start this season, but have since cooled down. More importantly then Columbus cooling down, is that they are giving up a lot of goals, for example, they have given up three or more goals in their last three losses. This puts Granlund, who is on the first power-play line and the first forward line, in a great spot. He averaged over four DraftKings points per game for the month of January, so be sure to target him over there. He can be used in a stack, or solo as a one off for GPPs.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Justin Faulk - D, CAR vs OTT (DK - $4,600, FD - $4,400)

Faulk makes a nice GPP option tonight since he has a favorable match up, so let's dive in. The Canes are up against the Senators, who are one of the worst teams in the league, and giving up over three goals per game. This is a great spot since the Hurricanes also take a ton of shots every game, which is always great to have against a weak defensive team. Faulk is on the first power-play unit, so stacking him up there, certainly makes a great option tonight. Faulk is also blocking over one shot per game, so he can add DFS value in more than one category.

Alex Pietrangelo - D, STL vs MON (DK - $6,600, FD - $6,100)

Pietrangelo is one of my favorite options to target on defense, since he plays well over 20 minutes per game and can contribute in multiple categories. He is taking nearly three shots per game, while blocking over two shots per game. He is on the first defensive pairing and the first power-play unit, and tonight up against the Canadiens, who are one of the worst teams in the league, giving up over three goals per game. He is a cash game lock tonight, and shouldn't be passed on if you have the salary.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Pekka Rinne - G, NSH vs CHI (DK - $8,200, FD - $8,600)

Rinne is up against a Chicago team who is really struggling this year, and haven't been playing on the same level we know they were in past years. Rinne has won five straight games, and giving up under two goals per game over that span. He is hot right now, and is looking like one of the cash game locks tonight. Rinne is also seeing around 30 shots per game, so even if he does let in one goal, he will have plenty of chances to rack up points and balance it out.
