FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (1/23/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Tom Vecchio's top NHL DFS lineup picks on FanDuel, DraftKings for 1/23/18. Expert daily fantasy hockey advice, sleepers & player recommendations.

We have a MASSIVE 12 game slate tonight, and there are good options on the board. Stacking will be big tonight, so look for some value where you can, and then load up on the star skaters where you can afford them.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 1/23/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Brayden Schenn - C, STL vs OTT (DK - $6,700, FD - $6,700)

Schenn has five points in his last five games, and is now at home against the Senators, who are simply not good this year. Ottawa is giving up over three goals per game, so anytime they are on the slate you want to roster against them. He is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, so plenty of ice against a weak defensive team. He is taking about 2.5 shots per game, and can chip in with a blocked shot every now and then. Schenn makes a good option in any format tonight since the matchup is so favorable.

Wayne Simmonds - W, PHI @ DET (DK - $5,100, FD - $5,900)

Simmonds is on the third forward line, but the first power-play unit, which makes him a bit cheaper than some of the other guys on the unit. You can take the savings, and still get nice exposure to a Flyers power-play who is up against a Red Wings team which is giving up over three goals per game. It should also help that Detroit is on the second night of a back to back, so a chance to jump on tired legs. Simmonds is taking over two shots per game, and has 29 points in 47 games this season.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Drew Doughty - D, LA @ VAN (DK - $6,000, FD - $5,600)

Doughty is a workhorse when it comes to minutes, and is also on the first power-play unit for the Kings. He makes a good cash game option for tonight since he can rack up points in multiple categories. He is taking over two shots per game, blocking over one shot per game, and has 32 points 47 games this season. You can also use him in a stack of the first power-play unit, since they are up against the Canucks, who are giving up over three goals per game.

Olli Maatta - D, PIT vs CAR (DK - $3,800, FD - $4,200)

Maatta is on the second power-play unit for the Penguins, who are in a great spot tonight. They are up against the Hurricanes, who are not only giving up over three goals per game, but also giving up plenty of shot opportunities. This puts the Penguins offense in a great spot, so you will want some exposure to them. The second power-play is cheaper compared the first, which will allow you to get in another stack from a separate team.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Tuukka Rask - G, BOS vs NJ (DK - $8,300, FD - $9,200)

Rask is one of the most expensive goalies on the slate tonight and with good reason. The Bruins haven't lost a game in regulation over their last 10 games, and are now at home against the Devils, who are on the second night of a back to back. He has wins in three straight games, and has only allowed five goals over that span. He is looking like a lock to pick up the win tonight, the only issue is getting up to his price tag. Good thing we have a full slate of games, so you will be able to find some value at other positions.
