FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (12/20/18): Daily Fantasy Hockey

We have a 12-game slate to break down giving us plenty of options to look at tonight. There are a ton of high-priced skaters you want to be rostering tonight and plenty of games with high over-unders, so could be in for a slate with inflated scores.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 12/20/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

David Pastrnak - W, BOS vs ANH (FD - $7,900, DK - $7,800)

Pasta and the Bruins are up against the Ducks, who come in with a 61 Coris Against this season, which is second worst in the league, meaning plenty of shot potential for them. He is taking nearly four shots per game, which is simply amazing since it gives you a super solid floor of points to build on. That is solid for cash games and with his multi-goal upside, you are looking at a great tournament option. Pastrnak sees time on the first power-play and can be used in a stack, or as a one-off in GPPs.

Sebastian Aho - C, CAR vs DET (FD - $6,100, DK - $5,700)

Aho seems a bit too cheap on DraftKings tonight since the Hurricanes come in with the highest Corsi For this season set at 68, meaning they take a MASSIVE amount of shots each and every game. This is what you want to be looking for in NHL DFS, shots, shots and more shots. That gives you a base of points to work off of, along with providing plenty of scoring opportunity, which makes a player good in all formats.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Mikhail Sergachev - D, TB @ CGY (FD - $4,000, DK - $3,300)

Sergachev is very cheap across the industry and is seeing time on the second power-play unit for the Lightning, who are up against the Flames where the over-under is set at 6.5 goals. We could be in for a bit of a wild, high-scoring game since both of these teams have great offenses and if you can't spend all the way up, Sergachev makes a solid option. He has only two points in his last five games, but 12 shots and seven blocked shots in that span.

Seth Jones - D, CLS vs NJ (FD - $5,700, DK - $6,400)

Jones has clearly shown to be the top defenseman for the Blue Jackets since Werenski has seen a dip in production. This is why we find Jones up on the top power-play unit, who always seem to get it done while at home this season. Love them in this spot against the Devils, who are giving up over 3.5 goals per game this season. He comes in with three points in his last four games, while playing over 26 minutes in two straight games.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Curtis McElhinney - G, CAR vs DET (FD - $7,500, DK - $7,500)

McElhinney should be returning to the net tonight after missing a few games with an injury and makes a cheap bust risky cash game option tonight. The Hurricanes are -200 at home versus the Red Wings, which is a game they should be able to win, but fully expect McElhinney to give up a goal or two. The savings on him are certainly very nice, which will allow you to load up on the skaters you want tonight. Also, consider using him in a stack with Hurricanes skaters.
