FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (11/14/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Thursday features eight games in all with a spotlight on games like Florida and Winnipeg, Dallas and Vancouver, plus even New York and Tampa Bay.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as scoring is still trending upward this time of the season.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/14/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs EDM (FD - $8,900, DK - $8,300)

Colorado is channeling their entire offense through MacKinnon and he keeps responding. He has 15 points in his last ten games and that includes a hand in all four goals during Colorado's last game in Winnipeg (a 4-0 shutout). He is averaging six shots a game over the previous ten contests with nearly 100 shot attempts! It is so hard to believe this is the same MacKinnon that was almost timid to hit the net with shots in his rookie season. He is a plug-and-play option even going against Connor McDavid tonight.

Jonathan Huberdeau - W, FLA vs WPG  (FD - $7,600, DK - $7,000)

The winger keeps rolling along (he has 101 points in his last 82 games). More recently, this Florida forward has 16 points in his previous ten including three assists in the comeback win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. Shot volume can be a bit of a question mark with Huberdeau but never scoring chances. He had four on Tuesday night and at least three were high quality. Expect more of the same on Thursday night as Winnipeg is having more problems again with allowing shots and chances.

Also, Consider:

  • Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, and even Mark Scheifele could be viable plays on Thursday night.
  • Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Kucherov, a8d Evander Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this nice slate.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Victor Hedman - D, TAM vs NYR (FD - $6,200, DK - $6,200)

Hedman goes up against one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL. New York allows 36 shots per 60 on the road and will be on the front end of the Florida back-to-back as it is often called. The Tampa defenseman is starting to look more like himself with eight points in his last ten games. Against Buffalo, he fired four shots on net in seven attempts with three blocked shots and a goal. Hedman just has to be accurate. His shot has looked wayward at times but when it is on, it is on.

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs BUF (FD - $6,600, DK - $6,800)

Hamilton keeps firing just over three shots a game for Carolina and is a point-a-game player right now. He has to be rostered against one of the worst penalty kills (Buffalo) on Thursday night. Again, the defenseman has ten points in his last ten games. He has four power-play assists over his previous eight contests. The price may be higher than the San Jose defensemen but the play is right there to grab.

Also, Consider:

  • Cale Makar and Ryan Graves both enjoy plus-matchups and are very reasonably priced due to category filling potential.
  • Alex Edler is always there but a little higher-priced than usual on Thursday night. Kevin Shattenkirk against his former team is a consideration. Also, look at Radek Simek who has points in three of his four games and is near minimum-priced for San Jose.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Devan Dubnyk - G, MIN vs ARZ (FD - $7,400, DK - $7,800)

The thought process was to look at a goalie who faces a team that can shoot the puck a decent amount and has a decent chance at a win. Dubnyk barely qualifies but his value is reasonable. He has played better of late even if the record does not indicate so. He has allowed just five goals in his previous two starts and both were quality starts. Minnesota is 3-1-1 at home and Dubnyk is 2-1-1 in those contests. This is a high-risk play and there is value on this slate if one feels queasy about Dubnyk.

Also, Consider:

  • The other good GPP choices on Thursday night include whoever starts for Detroit (especially if Jonathan Bernier starts). See if Markstrom or Demko starts in Vancouver as well.
