Daily Fantasy Leagues - Fanduel Lineup Picks (5/28)
Be sure to check your MLB daily league lineups and adjust as needed.
Chase Anderson SP / ARI ($5,000) - For those not familiar with Anderson, the D-Backs’ 26-year-old hurler will be making just his third start in the bigs. His first two came earlier in May, and the respective results were very different. In his MLB debut, Anderson put up an extremely impressive effort in Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field, holding the White Sox to just one run on two hits while registering a half-dozen punchouts across 5.1 innings.
The rookie right-hander followed that up with a pedestrian performance versus the Dodgers, in which he allowed five earned before exiting in the sixth frame. Anderson will square off with the Padres Wednesday evening, a lineup that packs nowhere close to the punch of his previous adversaries. If the ninth-round draft pick from 2009 can find the form that produced a 0.69 ERA and 8.8 K/9 over six starts for Double-A Mobile this season, he could certainly throw down a tremendous line against a relatively weak offense.
Adrian Gonzalez 1B / LAD ($3,600) - Granted, the price for Gonzalez would not typically be considered a “bargain”. However, the potential value of the All-Star first baseman becomes obvious on further reflection.
There are eight players at the position that come at a higher cost than Gonzalez will for today, and the left-handed slugger has absolutely owned the Reds’ Homer Bailey in their past confrontations, going 10-for-21 with five bombs. Roster Gonzalez with confidence.
Gordon Beckham 2B / CWS ($2,900) - Currently riding an eight-game hitting streak, Beckham has been locked-in at the plate. Though he spent the the first few weeks of the season on the disabled list, the sixth-year big leaguer could be setting a pace for the most productive summer of his career since his 2009 campaign produced a fifth-place finish in AL Rookie of the Year voting. Today’s opponent on the mound will be Indians’ southpaw T.J. House. The two have never faced each other, but Beckham is bashing lefties to the tune of a .741 slugging percentage so far in 2014.
Brock Holt 3B / BOS ($2,500) - Another infielder enjoying an eight-game hitting streak, Holt has been red-hot at the top of the Red Sox batting order over the last several days. Sure, he may just be warming up a spot in the starting lineup for recently re-signed veteran Stephen Drew, but that has not stopped the 25-year-old from showing what he can do with the stick. During his current run, Holt is 12-for-34 with four doubles and six runs scored.
