EURO 2020 DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (7/2/21) - EURO 2020 Soccer

RotoBaller soccer expert Vince Dray breaks down the EURO 2020 DFS slate for FanDuel on 7/2/21.

Hello, RotoBallers! We have made it to the quarterfinals of the Euro 2020 tournament! Only eight teams remain - and by the start of next week - we will be down to just four teams. This will be the second-to-last "full" slate of the tournament, so be sure to take advantage. I have a full breakdown for you covering this slate. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Friday's slate.

The large majority of my DFS content will be covering the EURO 2020 tournament until the EPL returns in August, however, there is always more soccer DFS to cover. EURO 2020 DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Switzerland vs Spain

The Swiss pulled off a massive upset against France in the Round of 16 in penalty kicks. They will have to pull off another big-time upset if they want to advance past Spain (-155). After struggling in front of the net their first two games, Spain have tallied five goals apiece in their last two matches. They look primed to continue their run in the Euros against Switzerland on Friday. They're the biggest favorites on this slate in a game with a slate-high goal total over/under of 2.5.

Belgium vs Italy

The other quarterfinal on Friday is a colossal matchup of tournament favorites. Behind England, these two countries are the next favorites to win the title and one must be eliminated Friday. Italy (+135) are slightly favored on the money line. They're firing on all cylinders in this competition with four straight wins on the back of nine goals for and just one against. They face a talented Belgium team who are also 4-0 in the Euros but do not appear to be 100% healthy. This will be a battle between two heavy-weights vying for a spot in the semifinals. The goal total over/under is just 2.0 but the over is -125.

 

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

I want to tackle Spanish attackers first as the biggest favorites and hottest attackers on the slate. Alvaro Morata ($23) is the most likely anytime scorer on the slate at +150. He can be awfully frustrating at times, but he does have two goals and eight shots on goal in his last three games. He has one of the better matchups on the slate too against a Swiss defense that just allowed three goals to France. Spain should control the majority of the possession in this game which will likely allow Morata several chances at finding the back of the net.

Ferran Torres ($19) has been pretty good recently too but is also priced up like Morata. He's an acceptable way to get some Spain exposure without unloading $23 for Morata. It's too bad that Dani Olmo ($15) and Gerard Moreno ($17) could both start on the bench Friday which makes them risky to put into your lineup. However, if you're willing to take the risk, you can probably get both at low ownership as super subs in a nice matchup which could turn into huge value especially if this game goes into extra time.

A matchup against Italy's defense is never an easy one for an opposing striker, however, Romelu Lukaku ($19) should not be overlooked on this slate. He has three goals already in this tournament and is coming off a spectacular league-winning season with Inter Milan. He's too cheap on this slate for his goal production even in a tough matchup where he is still +185 to score (tied for best in this game).

Belgium's defense has been strong as well also only allowing one goal in four games. This won't be an easy for matchup for Italy goalscorers, and I don't have a great feeling about Ciro Immobile ($21) for the price. I'd rather take Lorenzo Insigne ($20) or Marco Veratti ($18) to save a few dollars and have a safer floor while keeping the goal upside.

 

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Much like a lot of smaller slates, the value at the attacking position is lacking.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo ($8) has been solid for Italy in his two starts with 14.0 fantasy points per game. He will be busy defending Belgium's strong attack on Friday and should be in for another solid game at a good price.

Eric Garcia ($6) is viable if his price tag helps you prioritize attacking studs. A few defensive stats with a clean sheet in this game would be a large success.

If you can find the money, I like Giorgio Chiellini ($12) more. He should rack up plenty of defensive peripheral stats in this matchup and has goal upside off of set pieces.

Jordi Alba ($14) is my favorite defender to pay up for. He has awesome attacking upside and has a great matchup to do so on Friday against a weaker Swiss team.

 

FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers

Unai Simon ($13) needs both bonuses on this slate to be worth paying up for, and I think he can do that against Switzerland. Spain should be able to control the possession limiting the number of chances that the Swiss can create. However, this also limits his upside as he will likely not make many saves.

Gianluigi Donnarumma ($11) is my recommended play on this slate. Italy have shown more attacking ability than Belgium in this tournament and are firing on all cylinders right now. They're favorites to win this game, and their defense is good enough to keep a clean sheet. Not to mention that Donnarumma should be able to make a good number of saves in this game facing a good attacking team.
