EPL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (5/7/21) - English Premier League Soccer

Vince's FanDuel EPL DFS lineup picks for English Premier League soccer on 5/7/21. His top daily fantasy soccer forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! Only one UCL game and four EPL matchdays are yet to come this soccer season, however, FanDuel just made a huge announcement this week. They will be posting slates this summer for Euro 2020! Now is a great time to join RotoBaller and follow along with me for some international football this summer. But, before we get to that we have another single-game slate to cover. This will be the fourth straight time Leicester is playing on a single-game slate. I've never seen that before, so that must be some kind of record. Either way, I will be breaking down that game in full for you here. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Friday's slate.

The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts! There was some great conversation over the four UCL slates we had this week, and the Premium Slack chat is as full as ever!

In this article, I will be providing you with my English Premier League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/7/21 for the slate that locks at 3:00 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck, RotoBallers!

EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Leicester vs Newcastle

Leicester (-245) will be significantly favored at home on Friday. They have continued playing well as we near the end of the season and still hold a five point lead for a UCL spot. They host a Newcastle side that are not quite technically clear of relegation, but they do have a very strong nine point lead over Fulham at this point in the season. Newcastle have been noticeably worse on the road this season compared to at home, so Leicester should be able to control this game and win comfortably. The goal total over/under is 2.5.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

With a tough matchup for Newcastle attackers at the King Power away against Leicester, I won't be targeting many of them on this slate. None of them are in good form either which further reinforces prioritizing Leicester attackers.

I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but all of Kelechi Iheanacho ($15), Jamie Vardy ($14), and James Maddison ($12) are top-tier plays on this slate. Leicester have a great matchup at home against Newcastle who have allowed 1.65 goals per game this year in the league. Vardy and Iheanacho are the two with the most goal upside on this slate as they both have minus anytime scoring odds. Iheanacho has had the better form lately, and that really isn't close. Maddison has a safer floor than either of the two forwards and can score 20+ points without a goal. However, he does have good goal upside at +160. I would recommend getting two of these top three Leicester attackers.

Youri Tielemans ($9) is again the easy pick at a third Leicester attacker. He has done well in the last two good matchups they've had scoring 20+ points both times with a shot on goal in each game and seven total chances created.

Sean Longstaff ($6) has been racking up some decent peripherals lately and is my preferred Newcastle punt. His salary is fair and it allows you to jam in more Leicester guys.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Newcastle don't force many defensive stats, so that takes me off most Leicester defenders outside of Jonny Evans ($8). He's playing as an attacking wingback and has had some great attacking upside in Leicester's good matchups lately. That has a chance to continue on Friday. If you have the salary for him, he's the defender with the most upside on this slate.

Leicester allow a lot of tackles and interceptions and not much else as far as defensive peripherals go. For the price, Jacob Murphy ($7) is my favorite Newcastle defender. He's fairly priced, has been playing well, and is in for a decent matchup on Friday.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
