EPL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (1/28/21) - English Premier League Soccer

Vince's FanDuel EPL DFS lineup picks for English Premier League soccer on 1/28/21. His top daily fantasy soccer forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We have one final game of Matchday 20; a match that is super important for both teams as they try to stick with table toppers Manchester City. In addition to a superb game of soccer, we can play some DFS while we watch. I will be breaking down that game in full for you here. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Thursday's slate.

The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts! There was some great conversation over the four UCL slates we had this week, and the Premium Slack chat is as full as ever!

In this article, I will be providing you with my English Premier League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 1/28/21 for the slate that locks at 3:00 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck, RotoBallers!

EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Tottenham vs Liverpool

We have a colossal matchup here where the result could shake things up near the top of the EPL table. Tottenham host Liverpool (+115) as the league's only game on Thursday. Liverpool won the first meeting 2-1 back in December at home. However, they are not in very good form right now and have not played well away from Anfield all season. They have not won a PL game since 12/19, and in that stretch they have draws against West Brom, Newcastle, and Manchester United and losses to Southampton and Burnley (four of those five teams are in the bottom half of the table currently). Tottenham, contrarily, are in a little better form having not lost a PL game since 12/20. Liverpool are the current betting favorites, but this one could go either way. The goal total over/under is 3.0.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

Overall, Liverpool's defense looks pretty solid with 1.16 goals allowed per game in the league. However, when you break that down by home and away, they allow 1.44 goals per game on the road and only 0.9 at home. That alone sparks some Harry Kane ($15) interest. On top of that, Kane is on a goal streak right now having scored in three straight EPL games pushing his season tally to 12. He has second-best anytime scoring odds in this game at -110 and is a solid choice for your MVP spot at home on Thursday.

If you're going all in Tottenham at home, Son Heung-Min ($13) is the most obvious second choice. Tottenham as a team have not gotten a whole lot of goal production out of anyone besides Kane or Son. His +175 goal odds are 4th among expected starters. He has a slightly better floor than Kane with his peripherals, but Kane has the better goals upside. The two can easily be used together with good correlation or can be used on their own.

Mo Salah ($14) leads the slate in anytime scoring odds at -125. However, he is goalless in his last five Premier League games and faces a stingy defense in Tottenham who allow 1.0 goals per game at home. Salah is one of those guys that I won't tell you not to play if you have a gut feeling about him. However, this matchup, his poor form, and high price all point to a fade for me personally. I do like the idea of taking a few dollars in savings and playing Roberto Firmino ($12) today as your Liverpool guy. He will be lower owned than Salah and Sadio Mane ($13), but he still has respectable goal odds at +175. Thiago ($7) is a nice Liverpool value guy as well if you're on that side of the game.

Tanguy Ndombele ($8) is a nice value play on this slate that lacks cheap attackers. He has two goals in his last four league games and is averaging 20.1 fantasy points in that stretch as well. He's a solid value play no matter how you go about your studs on this slate. For even more value, we can look to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ($6). He has minimal attacking upside but should collect a good number of defensive peripherals in this game environment.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Defense is a tough position to sort out on this slate. Neither of Liverpool's stud wingbacks are really set up well for a ceiling game here on the road. Serge Aurier ($9) has some value as an attacking defender for the home side, but he costs an arm and a leg.

I like both Fabinho ($7) and Joel Matip ($6) in this matchup where they should get plenty of defensive stats. Tottenham concede a lot of defensive peripherals to opposing defenders, and this game environment should be one where they can be successful.

I also have Joe Rodon ($4) firmly in my player pool as the cheapest expected starter on the slate. He does not need many stats to be a useful value play as he allows you to prioritize more attacking studs.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
