DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/19/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Mookie Betts - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on September 19, 2023. Dawn Tepper's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! Another day, another big MLB slate following a Monday Night Football doubleheader. Let's hope this MLB slate is more exciting than last night's games <yikes>. At first glance, bats with great matchups include the Dodgers, Rangers, and San Diego Padres. Hot bats with not-so-great pitching matchups include the Braves, Phillies, Cardinals, and the Yankees.

New York Yankees Versus Kikuchi

New York Yankees Versus Kikuchi

Tonight, the Yankees are in the Bronx facing lefty Yusei Kikuchi. As of last week, the Yankees have a 0.7% chance of making the playoffs, but that doesn't mean they can't get you points on a large DFS slate. In the last 30 days, the Bombers have improved their ISO from 0.172 to 0.252 and their wRC+ from 94 to 135.

The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Blake Snell, SD vs. COL ($10,600 DK, $11,300 FD)

In Snell's last five starts, he's gone 4-1, with a 1.45 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched. Snell is coming off a stretch of fantastic outings for San Diego and will be in tight competition for the 2023 National League Cy Young Award.

Snell faces a Colorado team with a 78 wRC+ for the season, although it has crept up to 143 in the last 30 days, even with five losses in ten games. In Snell's previous two outings versus Colorado, he has gone 0-1, but in 11 innings pitched, he struck out 21 with a 3.18 ERA. Versus lefties, the Rockies are slashing just .235/.292/.386 and have a 65 wRC+. Roster Snell with confidence versus the Rockies in San Diego tonight.

Jackson Rutledge, WSH vs. CHW ($5,500 DK, $5,600 FD)

Righty Rutledge faces the White Sox in the Nation's Capital tonight. Chicago has an 84 wRC+ and .148 ISO for the season and is slashing .237/.291/.385 versus right-handed pitchers.

At $5,500 on DraftKings, Rutledge should have no problem hitting 2.5/3x value. And at that number, you'll be able to stack big bats from some of the pricier stacks of the night, including some of the Dodgers lefties I'll be looking at versus Alex Faedo.

Also consider Zac Gallen, Spencer Strider, Luis Castillo, and Yusei Kikuchi

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Orlando Arcia, ATL vs. PHI ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD)

Atlanta has a .226 ISO and a 123 wRC+ this season, .242 and .135 versus left-handed pitching. Lefty Cristopher Sanchez has a 3.4 ERA and a 3.22 xFIP, making him a tough matchup for the Braves, but with Atlanta's bats being what they are, I'm still confident they can cause Sanchez some issues.

Arcia's numbers have been low over the previous few games, but versus lefties, he's slashing .310/.406/.633 with eight homers and 16 RBI. Right-hander Arcia has a good matchup versus Sanchez, who is allowing .259/.290/.470 versus right-handed hitters.

CJ Abrams, SS, WSH vs. CHW ($4,800 DK, $3,300 FD)

Abrams is facing right-hander Jose Urena tonight in Washington, DC. The left-handed hitter is slashing .275/.322/.468 versus righties this year, and Urena is allowing .358/.421/.716 versus lefties. In Urena's last five outings, he has four losses and a 7.23 ERA. In four games at home, he has three losses and an 8.68 ERA.

For a team looking to build up the middle for next year and beyond, the talented shortstop's ability to hit, steal, and play elite defense puts him in a prime position to become one of the National's new, young stars, if he isn't that already. The Nat's have a great matchup versus Urena and will be a sneaky stack in many of my DFS lineups tonight.

Freddie Freeman, 1B, LAD vs. Detroit ($6,100 DK, $4,100 FD)

Looking for a lefty Dodger versus a right-handed pitcher? Freddie Freeman is at your service. He continues to produce for the Dodgers this year, slashing .333/.429/.556 in his last five games and .333/.418/.540 versus right-handed pitchers.  In addition to his batting skills, Freeman stole his 20th base of the season Monday night, adding to his 26 home runs and 55 doubles. He is doing it all, and I don't see him stopping anytime soon.

Freddie Freeman - Slash Line for Base Stats

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez, OF, HOU vs. BAL ($6,200 DK, $4,100 FD)

Alvarez and the Astros are at home once more, taking on the Orioles in Houston. Versus the AL East, Alvarez is slashing .290/.396/.538, and in his last five games, he is batting .263/.391/.684 with two homers and eight RBI. As the Astros try to keep their slim lead in the AL West, they are looking for Alvarez to be one of their top producers in the postseason, and Alvarez could be looking for another opportunity to show what he can do. He and the 'Stros have a great matchup tonight in a game where a win means a lot for both teams.

Per MLB.com: "Alvarez has a reputation for being an outstanding postseason hitter that is not entirely supported by results. He was the MVP of the 2021 AL Championship Series, and for good reason: He hit a stunning .522 in six games against the Red Sox that year. He also had that massive walk-off homer against the Mariners in Game 1 of last year’s AL Division Series.

But did you know he’s hitting .200 in his three (three!) World Series? Or that he has struck out in nearly a third of his World Series plate appearances? Or that if you take away that 2021 ALCS, he’s hitting only .171 for his postseason career? Shouldn’t he just absolutely dominate a postseason at some point? It looks like he will have another opportunity this year."

Ronald Acuña Jr., OF, ATL vs. PHI ($6,900 DK, $5,000 FD)

Acuna, amirite? It's no surprise that he would be on this list today. The Braves and Acuna are facing lefty Cristopher Sanchez tonight, and as mentioned above, Sanchez has a 3.4 ERA and a 3.22 xFIP, making him a tough matchup for the Braves, but Acuna won't be stopped.

Acuna is slashing .336/.417/.586 for the season, with 37 homers and 98 RBI, right in line with his slash line for the last five days of .333/.375/.524. The Braves will probably be a low-owned stack due to pricing and their facing Sanchez, but the sneaky stacks are my favorite, and the Braves will be at the top of my list for tonight's stacks.

Mike Yastrzemski, OF, SF vs. ARI ($4,000 DK, $2,900 FD)

I continue to target Yastrzemski this season and will do so again as he faces right-hander Zac Gallen in Arizona tonight. Yaz is slashing .263/.370/.424 this season, .266/.379/.450 versus righties. Gallen is a tough matchup for the Giants, but over the last 30 days, their ISO and wRC+ have improved to .186 and 117, respectively. A $4,000 price tag on DraftKings gives us more money for the Freddie Freemans and Ronald Acuna's of the world, and with his record versus righties being what it is, hitting his value should be no problem tonight versus the Snakes.
