DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/1/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on June 1st, 2022. Juan Carlos Blanco's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. As customary, we have an all-day ledger on tap Wednesday, and although DraftKings does not have a full-day slate, FanDuel does. Consequently, today's article will feature picks on both sites for games throughout the day, as even on DK, the suggestions will prove viable for someone playing one of the site's split slates.

We've got a couple of big-name pitching options in especially appealing matchups Wednesday, along with a great value pick that has a chance to overdeliver against a team that struggles plenty with consistent contact. Then, there's a strong selection of hitters at varying salary points that are also positioned to thrive.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Fanduel and DraftKings on 6/1/2022 that includes a FanDuel main slate locking at 1:10 pm ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter and ask away!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Justin Verlander - P, HOU at OAK ($10,000 DK, $10,900 FD)

Verlander had a hiccup his last time out against the Mariners, but he's otherwise been outstanding all season and had generated three straight scoreless outings immediately prior to the poor start. The right-hander was also facing Seattle for what was already the third time this season, which certainly could have played a part in his struggles. However, that won't be a concern Wednesday, as he'll take on a mostly punchless Athletics squad for the first time this season. Oakland comes in with a .195 average, plus an MLB-low .546 OPS, .248 wOBA, and -17.2 wRAA against righties at home in May. Meanwhile, Verlander's dominance is legitimate, as he boasts a .229 xBA, .291 xwOBA, and 3.o2 xERA, along with a 4-2 mark, 1.85 ERA, and 0.82 WHIP on the road.

Robbie Ray - P, SEA at BAL ($9,000 DK, $9,700 FD)

Ray started his Mariners career off in fine fashion against the Twins on Opening Day and did turn in quality starts in three of his first four trips to the mound overall, but he hasn't been anywhere near as sharp since then. The veteran southpaw and reigning AL Cy Young winner has posted a 2-4 record, 5.35 ERA, and 1.5 HR/9 in his six subsequent trips to the mound, albeit with an elite 12.7 K/9 along the way. Wednesday's matchup shapes up as a very viable get-right spot for Ray as well, as the Orioles are sporting an MLB-high 28.0 percent strikeout rate, a .198 average, a .566 OPS, a .254 wOBA, and MLB-low 61 wRC+ against left-handed pitching at home. Additionally, Ray has held current Baltimore bats to a collective .224 average and .242 OPS across 76 career encounters.

Other options: Garrett Whitlock, BOS vs. CIN ($7,000 DK, $7,000 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Rowdy Tellez - 1B, MIL at Kyle Hendricks ($3,800 DK, $3,500 FD)

Tellez can be a bit feast-or-famine with his fantasy production, but he's in a good spot Wednesday against the aging Hendricks, who's struggled to a 2-5 record, 5.20 ERA, and 1.34 WHIP in 10 starts. What's more, Hendricks has been even worse than those surface numbers imply, as he's allowed a career-high 8.7 percent barrel rate, 37.8 percent sweet-spot rate, and 39.7 percent hard-contact rate, along with a .298 xBA, .378 xwOBA, and 5.43 xERA. Then, he's fallen apart against left-handed hitters at Wrigley, where he's surrendered a .317 average, .988 OPS, and .427 wOBA to that handedness of hitter, along with a 3.1 HR/9 and 7.50 FIP. Tellez checks in with a career-high 15.0 percent barrel rate, .639 xSLG, and career-high .401 xwOBA, as well as a .368 wOBA and .295 ISO against right-handed pitching.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - 2B, MIA at German Marquez ($5,400 DK, $4,200 FD)

Chisholm appears to be in the early stages of what could be a breakout season, and he's in an excellent spot Wednesday from both a starting pitcher matchup and hitting environment perspective. The emerging 24-year-old can offer fantasy production in a wide variety of ways, including the stolen-base department, and he's impressively squaring up on the ball to the tune of a 14.0 percent barrel rate, .543 xSLG, and 45.0 percent hard-hit rate. He's also feasted on right-handers for a .309 average, .420 wOBA, and .318 ISO, making him a nightmare of a matchup for Marquez. The veteran righty has been punished at home by left-handed hitters for a .333 average, .394 wOBA, and 1.6 HR/9, and the .463 wOBA he's allowing on the four-seam fastball that serves as his most-often-thrown pitch to lefty bats is one Chisholm boasts a .380 wOBA/.440 xwOBA on when seeing it from right-handers.

Trea Turner - SS, LAD vs. Jose Quintana ($6,000 DK, $4,200 FD)

Turner is enjoying a rock-solid season that included a .294 average and .798 OPS heading into Tuesday night's action. Turner's power numbers are depressed thus far -- he's slugged just four homers after belting a career-high 28 in 148 games last season -- but he's still boasting a .359 xwOBA and career-best 48.7 percent hard-hit rate, indicating there's probably some correction coming. Turner is also putting in solid work against left-handed pitching, furnishing a .286 average, .844 OPS, and .362 wOBA in that split at home. Meanwhile, Quintana's numbers hint at plenty of oncoming regression, as there are sizable gaps between his .215 BAA  and .275 xBA, his .266 wOBA and .339 xwOBA, and his 2.15 ERA and 4.21 xERA.

Austin Riley - 3B, ATL at Madison Bumgarner ($4,600 DK, $3,700 FD)

Riley gets a crack at an aging southpaw in Bumgarner, who's enjoyed a solid start to the season but whose beneath-the-surface numbers also indicate he's enjoyed a bit of good fortune. MadBum carries an xwOBA allowed of .342 that's notably higher than his actual .310 figure, and the same is true for a 4.30 xERA that's considerably more inflated than his 3.35 number. What's more, Bumgarner is conceding a career-high 44.7 percent hard-hit rate, while Riley has been making the best contact of his career. The slugging third baseman has a career-high 16.2 percent barrel rate, .595 xSLG, and 53.8 percent hard-hit rate, and he's preyed on left-handed pitching for a .306 average, .459 wOBA, 195 wC+, and massive 58.1 percent hard-contact rate. Meanwhile, Bumgarner has given up a .328 wOBA and 5.58 FIP to right-handed hitters at home, a split in which he's also been partly fortunate in the form of an atypically low .241 BABIP.

Other options: Ty France - 1B, SEA at Kyle Bradish ($4,200 DK, $3,500 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU at Cole Irvin ($5,400 DK, $3,800 FD)

Alvarez just hit a pair of mammoth homers Monday to bring his season total to 14, and he added another pair of hits Tuesday night to bring his slash line to .266/.361/.570. The lefty-swinging slugger hasn't thrived in same-handed matchups this season as in years past, but he's still boasting a solid .332 wOBA and 122 wRC+ versus southpaws on the road. Additionally, he's got a very good target Wednesday in Irvin, who's yielding a career-high 11.7 percent barrel rate, along with a .284 xBA, a .365 xwOBA, and a 5.00 xERA, the latter two dwarfing his respective .309 and 3.15 actual figures in those categories. To top it off, Alvarez has shown Irvin no mercy in nine career encounters -- he's posted a .556 average with a double and a homer against the veteran left-hander -- and he's pounded Irvin's most often-used pitch against lefty hitters, the curve, for a .571 xwOBA when seeing it from a southpaw.

Nick Castellanos - OF, PHI vs. Carlos Rodon ($6,800 Utility/$10,200 Captain - DK Showdown, $3,300 FD)

Castellanos is once again doing a serious number on southpaws this season, tormenting them for a .429 average, .456 wOBA, 1.038 OPS, and 194 wRC+ at home. The veteran slugger has also punished Rodon for a .500 average with a triple, a homer, and just one strikeout across 12 career encounters, and the latter comes into Wednesday's start having proven a bit more hittable in recent starts. He's also had most of his trouble on the road, where he's pitched to a 4.67 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 4.13 xFIP. Castellanos also happens to be an outstanding hitter against Rodon's most-often-thrown pitch against right-handed hitters, the four-seam fastball, having produced a .385 xwOBA against the pitch when seeing it from left-handers.

Julio Rodriguez - OF, SEA at Kyle Bradish ($4,500 DK, $3,600 FD)

Rodriguez has hit his stride after a slow start against big-league arms, and he'll head into Wednesday's game with a solid .268 average and rising .737 OPS, along with a 48.3 percent hard-hit rate. The rookie phenom has enjoyed his biggest success against left-handed pitching, but he nevertheless shapes up a high-upside, reasonably-salaried option to deploy versus Bradish, who's given up a .400 average, 1.268 OPS, .529 wOBA, and 4.5 HR/9 to right-handed hitters at home. Rodriguez has also been a terror with men on base and in scoring position specifically, posting .387 and .406 wOBAs in those respective scenarios.

Other options: Tommy Edman - OF, STL vs. Yu Darvish ($5,200 DK, $3,600 FD)
