DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/28/21): MLB DFS Lineups

Logan Webb - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Starting Pitchers, Draft Sleepers

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/28/21. Brian Entrekin's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have a 13-game main slate on tap tonight, and it's a fun one. There are some solid pitching options in the $8K and above range. There are also some great spots to stack and not just in Coors Field. With 13 games on the slate, we have many ways we can go tonight, which always makes for a robust set of builds. The value is attractive, as there are not a ton of punts like some nights, but there are many solid plays in the mid-$3K to low $4K range make for some nice "balanced" builds. For a full slate rundown, listen into MLB DFS Quick Hits for a full slate rundown.

The slate starts with which pitchers to build around. Do you pay all the way up for the consistency that Wheeler brings to the table? Do you trust the Brewers to let Brandon Woodruff pitch like normal even though they have clinched? Do you take the massive discount on a player like Buehler or go contrarian with Morton priced right next to him? Some terrific pitchers on this slate with some significant pivots in similar price ranges. Most will look to Coors with Corbin and Freeland on the bump for stacking, and I can't argue. There are other great spots, though. Look into the Yankees versus the struggling Ryu, a potential game stack behind the Reds and White Sox, and much more.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/28/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also check out today's FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Charlie Morton- P, ATL vs. PHI ($9,200)

Morton has been such a pleasant surprise this season. He has been the model of consistency, allowing three earned runs or less in 25 of 31 starts. He also strikes out the farm, which ups his fantasy point production. In September, he has made four starts and has thrown five or more innings in each start, with three earned runs or less in each with 22 total strikeouts in the 25 innings. He has also only allowed one home run over the four games with a 41% ground ball rate, doing a great job keeping the ball in the ballpark. This season, Morton has two quality starts in his three starts versus the Phillies, with seven or more K's in two of the starts. He takes on a Phillies team that is striking out 21% of the time versus RHP in September, and I see Morton continue his ways as the Braves fight towards the postseason. The other part about Morton I like is the fact he is $100 more than Buehler. This will make most go to Buehler, making Morton a great tournament leverage play.

Logan Webb - P, SF vs. AZ ($8,900)

Webb is coming off his worst start in quite some time. He could not throw a strike to save his life in the first inning, but he did manage to come back and throw three more solid innings after the first inning disaster. That takes a lot of the concern away for me. Including the debacle in his last start, he has made 15 starts since returning to the Giants in early July. Webb has a 2.58 ERA to go with a 2.70 xFIP. He has a 21.3% K-BB and a 63.2% groundball rate. Webb strikes out or gets a groundball out from most opponents, definitely helping with the impressive run. He will take on a DBacks team tonight, striking out 24.6% of the time versus RHP in September, only hitting .207 with a 67 wRC+. Webb has been outstanding and gets a great matchup tonight. I have all the confidence going back to Webb and enjoy the discount that comes with him.

Other Options: Zack Wheeler (PHI at ATL) $10,500, Chris Sale (BOS at BAL) $9,400, Walker Buehler (LAD vs. SD) $9,100, Brady Singer (KC vs. CLE) $8,300

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Gary Sanchez - C, NYY at Hyun Jin Ryu ($3,500)

Sanchez has been swinging it better of late for the Yankees and comes into tonight's game hitting safely in four of his last six games. He has two home runs over the stretch to go with a .300 ISO. Of course, he is still striking out too much, to the tune of 38%, but hey, that's Gary. He mashes the ball when he makes contact, and he has done that a little more consistently. The most important reason to like Sanchez is his ability to mash LHP. He has a .282 ISO and .834 OPS versus LHP while striking out only 23% of the time. He also takes on Ryu, who has struggled of late. He has allowed five runs or more in three of his last five starts, with two home runs or more in each of those three starts. Sanchez has three career home runs versus Ryu, and I would not be surprised if he hits another tonight. The $3500 price tag is a nice discount from the usually high price that comes with Sanchez.

C.J. Cron - 1B, COL vs. Patrick Corbin ($3,600)

I had to double-take when I saw the price tag for Cron tonight versus Corbin in Coors. On the Current homestand, Cron has hit safely in five of seven games with multiple hits in all five games. Cron has five doubles and a home run over the stretch and is impressively only striking out 15% of the time. Cron's .250 ISO and 1.080 OPS are outstanding and pair nicely with a 15% barrel rate and 56% hard-hit rate. He's been mashing, which is excellent, and now he faces a lefty he can crush as well. On the season, Cron is hitting .318 with a .279 ISO and .994 OPS. He's crushing LHP. Cron is far too cheap tonight and should be rostered virtually everywhere tonight. He should make it six multi-hit games in the recent homestand and hopefully adds an extra-base hit or two.

Luis Garcia - 2B, WAS at Kyle Freeland ($3,400)

Garcia heads into tonight's game in Coors swinging a scorching bat. He has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, suitable for a .325 average. Garcia has five extra-base hits to go with a .175 ISO and .825 OPS. He brings a great floor into tonight's game against Freeland in Coors. Some will see the lefty matchup and not like Garcia, but he is hitting .317 versus LHP this season with a .167 ISO. Garcia is serviceable versus LHP and comes in at quite the discount for Coors Field. Looking for a cash game discount or piece in a Nats' stack, do not forget about Garcia.

Xander Bogaerts- SS, BOS at Bruce Zimmermann ($5,000)

X gonna give it to you tonight. The Red Sox shortstop is having another great season and brings a hot bat into tonight's game. He has hit safely in eight of his last 11 games, suitable for a .302 average. He has five extra-base hits to go with three home runs and a strong .279 ISO. Bogaerts's contact quality is off the chart with a 16% barrel rate and 58% hard-hit rate. Tonight he faces Zimmermann, returning from the IL, and has his work cut out for him. Bogaerts is hitting .291 on the season versus LHP with a solid .833 OPS. On the season, RHH are hitting .280 with nearly two HR/9 versus Zimmermann. I like a Red Sox stack tonight, and X pairs nicely with some discounts like Bobby Dalbec and Hunter Renfroe.

Eugenio Suarez - 3B, CIN at Reynaldo Lopez  ($4,100)

What a finish to the season for Eugenio Suarez. He brings a seven-game hitting streak into tonight's action, where he is hitting .448 with multiple hits in five games. Suarez has seven extra-base hits, including three home runs with a .448 ISO and 1.397 OPS. Suarez is mashing, and his contact quality agrees with a 20% barrel rate and 55% hard-hit rate. He will face Lopez tonight, allowing three or more runs in three of his last four starts, only throwing 16.1 innings and allowing five home runs. Suarez will look to stay hot, and the price is worth riding the hot streak. The Reds are another great stack tonight, and a game stack between the Reds and White Sox is definitely in play and could be a nice pivot off of Coors Field.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Hunter Renfroe - OF, BOS at Bruce Zimmermann ($4,200)

Renfroe is having a heck of a 2021 season and is trying to finish on a hot streak. He brings a four-game hitting streak into tonight's game and has hit safely in eight of his last nine games. He has five extra-base hits to go with a .313 average and a .219 ISO. He is doing it versus lefties and righties, which is not always the norm for Renfroe as he is usually a lefty masher. Well, he is mashing lefties this season, hitting .280 with a .240 ISO. Renfroe is mashing this season, and I will take that discounted price tag in a great matchup tonight. Are you all catching a trend of those mid-priced bats I like tonight. Some nice balanced builds on tap tonight.

Lane Thomas- OF, WAS at Kyle Freeland  ($4,100)

Let's head back to Coors and talk some leadoff Lane Thomas. He is hitting safely in five of his last six games with four extra-base hits. Most do not look at Thomas as a masher, but he has crushed LHP this season. He is hitting .418 this season versus LHP with a .236 ISO and 1.184 OPS. Just insane numbers for the Nats' leadoff hitter. He faces Freeland tonight in Coors, which bodes well for Thomas. Unfortunately, he comes in way too cheap for the matchup, so throw Thomas into that mid-priced player pool we love tonight.

Harrison Bader- OF, STL vs. Brandon Woodruff  ($3,000)

Last but not least, let's discuss a solid value in Bader. Sure he is facing Woodruff which is never great, but let's hope Woodruff does not go too deep, or the Cardinals stay red hot, and Bader continues to mash. Bader brings a six-game hitting streak into tonight's game which has also seen him hit home runs in three straight games. It goes deeper for Bader, who is having a great September. He is hitting .359 with 16 extra-base hits and two stolen bases. Bader has a .304 ISO and 1.055 OPS. It is a shame that Bader usually hits at the bottom of the Cardinals' order, but his price tag is a value regardless, especially for one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball.
