Today's Weather
There are a total of just six games on the slate, with two games played under a dome or retractable roof. There is no precipitation in the forecast across the four outdoor venues. Only the Angels-Rangers battle in Arlington will face wind factors, with a stiff 10-13 mph breeze blowing in from right field to home plate.
DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Mike Minor - P, TEX vs. LAA ($10,100)
The most expensive pitching option on the board is the newly-minted All-Star Minor. The Rangers have ripped off five straight victories in Minor's starts, and they're 5-2 in his past seven starts at home while going 18-8 in the past 26 overall at home. They're also 7-1 in the past eight at home against a left-handed starting pitcher. All of the stars are aligning for a strong outing and win by Minor.
Trevor Williams - P, PIT vs. CHC ($8,100)
The pickins are pretty slim in terms of pitching on Monday's evening slate, as Minor is the most expensive option on the board. After that, it's San Diego Padres RHP Logan Allen ($9,200). Exactly. Williams is a good play against a Cubs team which has struggled on the road, going just 3-10 over their past 13 road contests.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
Yasmani Grandal - C, MIL at CIN ($4,900)
Grandal is a frequent selection on this page, as it seems he always has a favorable matchup on Mondays (or Tuesdays). He will be facing RHP Tyler Mahle, who limps in with a 2-8 record, 4.35 ERA and .306 opponent on-base percentage.
Eric Hosmer - 1B, SD vs. SF ($4,400)
Hosmer has a very favorable matchup against RHP Jeff Samardzija, who has been extremely giving with a 4.52 ERA. These two do not have a long history, but Hosmer is a respectable 5-for-17 (.294) with two doubles, a home run and three RBI with a .922 OPS in their dealings. More importantly, Hosmer is 13-for-24 (.542/.542/.875) with two doubles, two homers and nine RBI across the past seven days.
Mike Moustakas - 2B, MIL at CIN ($5,000)
Not to pick on Mahle, but...OK, it's time to pick on Mahle. Moose has posted a respectable .279/.359/.551 with seven doubles, 10 homers and 23 RBI across 136 at-bats on the road this season. He should enjoy quite a nice evening at the expensive of the Reds at GABP.
Manny Machado - 3B/SS, SD vs. SF ($5,100)
After a slow start, Machado has heated up quite a bit. He could continue against Samardzija, who he is 5-for-11 (.455) with a double, two homers and three RBI against. Lately he has been hotter than anyone in the power department, going 6-for-22 (.273) with four homers and nine RBI over the past seven days. He can also be used at shortstop in DraftKings.
Kevin Newman - SS/2B, PIT vs. CHC ($4,900)
Newman will look to stay hot and take advantage of rookie RHP Adbert Alzolay. He has been tearing the cover off the ball lately, slashing .407/.407/.815 with a 1.222 OPS, including two doubles, three homers and seven RBI across the past 27 at-bats over the past week.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Joey Gallo - OF, TEX vs. LAA ($5,500)
Gallo, recently named to the American League All-Star roster, has really excelled against left-handed starting pitching. He'll face LHP Jose Suarez in Monday's series opener. Gallo is slashing .328/.417/.754 across 61 at-bats vs. LHP, including five doubles, seven homers and 20 RBI.
Jason Heyward - OF, CHC at PIT ($4,400)
It's not a great idea going up against one of your pitchers, but Heyward has been red-hot and it's hard to pass on him. Plus, there aren't a ton of great options on the board with such a short slate. Heyward is 8-for-23 (.348) with a double, a triple, four homers and 11 RBI with a ridiculous 1.423 OPS over the past seven days.
