BALLER MOVE: Monitor on Waiver Wire (Current ADP: Undrafted, WR: 82)
ANALYSIS: It’s been a couple of mediocre years since Denarius Moore’s semi breakout rookie campaign in 2011 and very few in the fantasy football community are willing to trust his potential for 2014. Considering the serious offensive woes within the Raiders organization including the revolving door at quarterback, I believe Moore actually put up respectable seasons given the situation. However, there are a few things that could potentially point to a breakout for Moore, including the appointment of Derek Carr as the new QB. Throughout the preseason we saw Moore act as Carr’s go to guy, including two touchdown passes in the final preseason game. Although he is currently sitting in the 3rd spot on the WR depth chart, we hope to see Moore get involved in the first few weeks, especially if he builds off that chemistry with Carr.
Beyond preseason numbers, the coaching staff is also hoping the signing of James Jones will ease the pressure that Moore has openly admitted to feeling the last few years to exceed the expectations that he was burdened with to be the top receiver in a poor offense. Although the Raiders are likely to be behind in most games, Moore could emerge as a garbage time hero and rack up serious yards when the Raiders are playing catch up. I’ll be monitoring his targets and playing time over the next couple of weeks to see if he is worth taking a chance on.
