Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (10/21/17): NHL DFS Advice for FanDuel, DraftKings

Tom Vecchio's top daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for 10/21/17. Expert NHL DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for FanDuel and DraftKings.

We have a nine game slate to kick off our weekend, and there some very good games on tap. We have a number of high powered offenses on the board, so there should be plenty of goals to go around. Stacking is going to be key, so pair up players on the same line where you can.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/21/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Jack Eichel - C, BUF @ BOS (DK - $7,100, FD - $7,800)

Eichel has five points in his last four games and is a great cash game play for tonight. Eichel is on the first forward line and the first power-play, so there is plenty of ice time for him to be able to rack up points. Boston's starting goalie, Tuuka Rask, is out with a concussion, so this should open up plenty of scoring for their opponents. Eichel should be rostered with full confidence in any type of contest. Stacking him up is a great option, and the pairing options aren't that expensive.

Alex Ovechkin - W, WAS vs FLA (DK - $7,700, FD - $9,000)

When you roster Ovechkin, you know what you are in for. A high priced player who have hat trick potential. To be fair, Ovi only has one point in his last three games, but now back at home, he is up against the Panthers, who are allowing three goals per game so far this season. Ovi also takes a TON of shots every game, which is great from a fantasy perspective. He is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, so plenty of ice time for him to get some points. Can certainly be used as a one off in GPPs because of his goal upside.

Jason Zucker - W, MIN @ CGY (DK - $5,100, FD - $4,200)

You always have to be on the lookout for players who are under priced in relation to the role they play. Zucker is seeing time on the first forward line, and the first power-play unit, and he is under $5K on FanDuel. That just seems a bit off, and if you roster him, the salary flexibility you gain is huge. Zucker has six points in five games this season, and is averaging over two shots per game. His best use in your lineup would probably be a one off in either format, just for the savings.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Brent Burns - D, SJ @ NYI (DK - $7,100, FD - $7,400)

Bruns is one of the elite defenders in the league, and he also has a major impact on th7 offensive end. He only has two points on the season, and is yet to find the back of the net. Today is his day to light the lamp. He is averaging almost four shots per game, and also gets a ton of blocked shots, which are free fantasy points. He has 10 blocked shots over his past three games. Seeing time on the top defensive pairing and the top power play.

Morgan Rielly - D, TOR @ OTT (DK - $4,700, FD - $4,700)

Rielly is on the top defensive pair and the top power-play unit of the always explosive Toronto Maple Leafs. For his role, his is a bit to cheap, considering, he has so much ice time with and offense who can easily score three or more goals a game. Just based on some roster construction I've been going through, he fits into lineups very easily today, no matter where you are choosing to spend up. Great in any format.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Ben Bishop - G, DAL @ ARI (DK - $7,900, FD - $9,100)

As I've mentioned before, I like to target goalies who are at home, and favorites according to Vegas. Bishop is at home and a -140 favorite against a weak Arizona team. The Stars have played great defense to start the season, only allowing 18 goals in seven games. Bishop has wins in four of his six games this season, and is allowing less than two goals per game. Great option today for cash games.
