Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Wednesday 8/25

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/25/21. Juan Carlos Blanco identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Fantasy managers in daily leagues no doubt have holes to fill. The easiest way to do that is with streamers. Fortunately, RotoBaller has you covered with daily streaming picks.

Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best fantasy baseball streaming picks - options to consider in fantasy baseball daily leagues. Additionally, these recommendations can be useful for fantasy managers setting DFS lineups.

We have our usual early start for the Wednesday slate, with first pitch taking place at Busch Stadium at 1:15pm ET. We get our streaming options started early with one suggestion from that game before proceeding to target several vulnerable matchups throughout the rest of the day and evening. Additionally, we do have a doubleheader on tap at Wrigley, and there are three players overall from the two squads that I'm targeting based on matchups.

Hitter Streamers for 8/25 - Shallow Leagues

Amed Rosario (SS/OF, CLE) 53% rostered

Matchup: vs. TEX LHP Jake Latz

Rosario has been a terror against left-handed pitching all season, which he's blasted for a .336 average, .905 OPS and .387 wOBA while striking out at a very modest 17.5 percent clip versus that handedness. He also happens to be producing his best numbers of the season at the plate in August, a month in which he's forged a .393 average, 1.023 OPS, .432 wOBA and 176 wRC+. Wednesday, he gets a crack at a young southpaw making his first major-league start in Latz, who pitched to a 7.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 4.0 HR/9 over the nine innings covering the two Triple-A starts he made before being promoted.

Josh Rojas (2B/SS/OF, ARI) - 50% rostered

Matchup: @ PIT RHP Mitch Keller

Rojas is one of two left-handed D-Backs bats I'll be recommending against Keller, who's allowed a .366 average, .962 OPS, 2.16 WHIP and .411 wOBA to left-handed hitters at PNC Park. Rojas has enjoyed his share of success in opposite-handed matchups, as he's posted a .290 average, .834 OPS and .361 wOBA in that split. He's also on quite the tear in August (.370 average, .997 OPS, .421 wOBA), and once Keller exits, he'll get a shot at a group of Pirates relievers that have surrendered an 8.70 ERA and .372 wOBA to lefty bats in this month.

Rafael Ortega (OF, CHC) -38% rostered

Matchup: vs. COL RHP German Marquez (Game 1)

Marquez has enjoyed a very strong year overall but struggled with left-handed hitters on the road, where he's allowed them a .311 average, .868 OPS and .370 wOBA, along with 1.6 HR/9. Ortega has been enjoying a breakout season that already saw him belt three homers in the same game, and he often hits out of the leadoff spot, boosting his value further. He's also thrived in opposite-handed matchups, posting a .344 average, .948 OPS and .403 wOBA versus right-handed pitching.

Patrick Wisdom (1B/3B, OF) - 27% rostered

Matchup: vs. COL LHP Austin Gomber (Game 2)

Wisdom is one of the aforementioned pair of suggestions for the Rockies-Cubs twin bill, and he checks in as one of the best Chicago bats other than Ortega left in the team's lineup at this point in their forgettable season. The 29-year-old is now up to a career-best 20 homers and boasts an .853 OPS, and he'll get a crack at Gomber, who's given up a .260 average, .322 wOBA and 1.5 HR/9 to righty bats on the road. Gomber has also pitched to a 6.75 ERA, .314 BAA and .385 wOBA in 16 August frames, while Wisdom has tormented southpaws at Wrigley for a .355 average, 1.219 OPS, .502 wOBA and jaw-dropping 217 wRC+.

Aledmys Diaz (1B/2B/3B/OF, HOU) - 24% rostered

Matchup: vs. KC LHP Mike Minor

Diaz continues to see regular playing time and has tagged lefties this season for a .329 average, .933 OPS and .397 wOBA while posting just a 16.7 percent strikeout rate in that split. While a good deal more of Diaz's success this season has curiously come on the road, he does face a vulnerable southpaw in Minor that he's already posted a .429 average against over a modest sample of eight plate appearances. Minor has also surrendered a .345 wOBA and 1.8 HR/9 on the road to right-handed hitters, and his three most-often-thrown pitches -- the four-seam, slider and changeup -- are ones that Diaz owns .349, .350 and .472 wOBAs against, respectively, this season.

Hitter Streamers for 8/25 - Deeper Leagues

Luis Arraez (2B/3B/OF, MIN) - 21% rostered

Matchup: @ BOS RHP Nick Pivetta

This season, Arraez has continued to do what he's always done at every professional stop, namely, hit and get on base at an excellent clip. The 24-year-old enters Wednesday having hit safely in six of the last seven and sporting a .314 average and .381 OBP. He has just two homers but has already laced four triples, and he boasts a .335 average and .357 wOBA against righties. Meanwhile, Pivetta has given up a .332 wOBA and 5.33 xFIP to left-handed hitters at Fenway while generating a massive 6.2 BB/9 in that sample as well.

Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS, COL) - 19% rostered

Matchup: @ CHC RHP Zach Davies (Game 1)/@CHC LHP Justin Steele (Game 2)

Rodgers will hopefully draw the start in both games of the twin bill Wednesday, as he'll be in a good spot for success versus each starting pitcher. Davies has been hit hard by right-handed hitters at Wrigley, where he's allowed a .301 average, .881 OPS, .377 wOBA and 2.2 HR/9 to that handedness. Rodgers has struggled in same-handed matchups on the road, but he's having a strong second half with a .294 average and .345 wOBA thus far. Then, Steele is a young lefty that could run into trouble versus Rodgers, who's managed a .925 OPS, .387 wOBA and 140 wRC+ against southpaws on the road.

Pavin Smith (1B, OF, ARI) - 14% rostered

Matchup: @ PIT RHP Mitch Keller

Smith is the second Arizona left-handed bat I'm suggesting to target Keller with, as he'll be in the same position to take advantage of the weakness of both the Pirates' starter and Pittsburgh's bullpen against left-handed hitters that were described in Rojas' entry. Smith has had a good body of work against righties this season, as he owns a .277 average, .331 wOBA and respectable 18.4 percent strikeout rate versus that handedness while slugging eight of his nine homers in opposite-handed matchups as well.

Miguel Cabrera (1B, DET)- 8% rostered

Matchup: @ STL LHP Jon Lester

Cabrera is still basking in the glory of his 500th career home run and gets a matchup against one of the pitchers he's tormented most throughout his career in Lester, who he's punished for a .552 average and 1.476 OPS while striking out only thrice in 41 career encounters. Cabrera has thrived against lefties all season as well, turning in a .299 and .341 wOBA versus southpaws. Lester has been knocked around by righty bats for a .324 average, .395 wOBA and 1.8 HR/9 while also posting a 4.2 BB/9 in that split.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/25 - Shallow Leagues

Josiah Gray (SP, WAS) - 38% rostered

Matchup: @ MIA RHP Edward Cabrera

Gray has been impressive since joining the Nationals at the deadline, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 over the 22 innings covering his first four starts. He'll enter Wednesday's favorable matchup against the Marlins having posted back-to-back quality starts, and he gets a crack at a Marlins team that has just a .303 wOBA, .299 OBP and -4.2 wRAA against visiting right-handers in the second half of the season. What's more, Miami is especially struggling offensively at the moment, having scored three runs or fewer in four of its last five games.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/25 - Deeper Leagues

Tyler Gilbert (SP, ARI) - 15% rostered

Matchup:@ PIT RHP Mitch Keller

Gilbert had the misfortune of trying to follow up his recent no-hitter with a start at Coors Field, and he actually didn't fare too badly with four earned runs allowed over five innings. The southpaw will now make his third career start against the Pirates, which have an abysmal .214/.265/.379 slash line against lefties at home in the second half of the season, and which own a .279 wOBA and -4.9 wRAA in that split as well. Pittsburgh has also struck out at a 25.9 percent clip in that sample, and Gilbert, while a below-average strikeout pitcher, could benefit from generating a few more swings and misses than usual.
