Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Friday 8/20

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/20/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to make up for a lackluster start by Cal Quantrill against the hopeless Twins to start the week, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We have seven pitchers going that are rostered in more than 90% of ESPN leagues. Five more are owned in more than half of leagues. That leaves us with almost two thirds of the pitchers to choose from today. Two of those are in Coors, so maybe we really only have 16 to choose from.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/20 - Shallow Leagues

Tyler Naquin (OF, LHB, CIN) - 49.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. MIA RHP Elieser Hernandez

Naquin has been taking off lately along with most of the Reds offense. He is hitting .400 in the last week with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored. Naquin is much more of a value target in DFS formats because of his low price, but he can help you in season-long leagues too. The Marlins bullpen is average at best and Hernandez is no guarantee to last five innings.

Jazz Chisholm (2B/SS, LHB, MIA) - 46.7% Rostered

Matchup: at CIN RHP Sonny Gray

He's back! Chisholm is back atop the Miami order and is hitting .333 this week with two homers, three RBI, and five runs scored. Nothing about Sonny Gray scares me today, and I'm going after him. There are plenty of Marlins available on waivers, but few have the skills and potential of Chisholm.

Josh Rojas (2B/SS/OF, LHB, ARI) - 44% Rostered

Matchup: at COL LHP Austin Gomber

They don't come much hotter than Rojas right now. After going hitless in his first six at-bats off the IL last week, Rojas closed the week with ten hits in four games with a homer, four RBI, and four runs scored. Rojas started the week with five hits in the three games against the Phillies with another RBI and run scored. He is back in the leadoff spot for Arizona and is batting over .500 during his eight-game hitting streak. Now he heads to Coors. Enjoy!

Ian Happ (OF, LHB, CHC) - 33.1% Rostered

Matchup: vs. KC RHP Brad Keller

Keller has been better of late, but better is a relative term. He is still painfully average at best heading into a matinee in Wrigley. Someone has to hit for the Cubs and lately it has been Happ. He is hitting .333 with three homers, four runs scored, and six RBI in the last week alone. Happ could certainly feast off of this pitching staff this weekend, so pick him up and win a couple of categories!

Hitter Streamers for 8/20 - Deeper Leagues

Frank Schwindel (1B, RHB, CHC) - 5.9% Rostered

Matchup: vs. KC RHP Brad Keller

Much like Happ, Schwindel is lighting it up for a team that is sucking it up. Since taking over full-time for Anthony Rizzo on August 1, Schwindel is hitting .397 with four homers, eight runs scored, and 15 RBI. Frank is hitting .478 during his seven-game hitting streak with three of those homers and nine RBI. Like Happ, this is a dream weekend against a terrible pitching staff in the friendly confines.

Connor Joe (OF/1B, RHB, COL) - 12.6% Rostered

Matchup: vs. ARI LHP Tyler Gilbert

For some odd reason, the Rockies have Joe batting leadoff. Anything that gets the guy more at bats against a lefty is good news for me. Joe is hitting .308 since August 5 with five homers, 11 RBI, and seven runs scored. So what if he isn't stealing bases? He's finding the bleachers at Coors with regularity. There's a good chance that Tyler Gilbert had the best start of his career in the first start of his career. I'll say his no-hit bid is done before the first inning is tonight.

Bobby Dalbec (1B, RHB, BOS) - 11% Rostered

Matchup: vs. TEX RHP Dane Dunning

Dalbec is hitting .375 with three homers, five runs scored, and a staggering 11 RBI (in just 18 at-bats!) in the last week. He still isn't starting much against righties, but considering this isn't a tough one, Dalbec may get the call. At any rate, if he starts for the Red Sox, he's worth a prospective add.

Brandon Marsh (OF, RHB, LAA) - 2.9% Rostered

Matchup: at CLE LHP Sam Hentges

Marsh has been one of the best prospects in the Angels system for a while now. He is finally getting an extended look at the major league level along with Jo Adell. Right now Marsh is the one that's hitting despite Adell's grand slam earlier this week. Marsh is hitting .407 with three runs scored, four RBI, and a steal. The power will come at some point for Marsh, but who can't use those counting stats in the meantime while he's not hurting your average?

Pitcher Streamers for 8/20 - Shallow Leagues

Elieser Hernandez (RHP, MIA) - 29.8% rostered

Matchup: at Cincinnati

I don't really like running at the Reds in Cincy, but the pickings, despite numerous, are slim. Hernandez at least has the potential to turn in a strong start. He went 5.1 innings in his first start in 10 weeks and only his third start of the 2021 season against the Cubs last week. Don't expect Hernandez to go deep into this game, but he should give us a handful of strikeouts and have a puncher's chance at a win against Sonny Gray.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/20 - Deeper Leagues

Jaime Barria (RHP, LAA) - 4.8% rostered

Matchup: at Cleveland

Barria has been inconsistent, but he has allowed six runs in his last three starts against the A's, Dodgers, and Astros. Cleveland is going to feel like facing the rookie squad in Spring Training after those last three starts. Barria isn't a high strikeout guy, but he should eat some innings, help some ratios, and give us a chance at a win.
