Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Friday 7/2

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 7/2/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to make up for Freddy Peralta or other aces getting smacked this week, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We have eight pitchers owned in more than 90% of leagues and another eight that are owned in more than half of ESPN leagues. That leaves the other half to us streamers that are available in less than half the leagues out there.

Hitter Streamers for 7/2 - Shallow Leagues

Nate Lowe (1B, LHB, TEX) - 48% Rostered

Matchup: at SEA RHP Logan Gilbert

The Rangers are hot right now, having won five of their last six games. Joey Gallo has homered in five straight, but you aren't going to find him on this list. However, you can have a guy that homered twice yesterday and who has hit safely in four straight and 11 of the last 12 games for free. Lowe is hitting .364 in that span with three homers, seven RBI, and seven runs scored. We can work with that, especially when you don't have to give up anything for him.

Myles Straw (OF, RHB, HOU) - 38.8% Rostered

Matchup: at CLE LHP Sam Hentges

Straw is hitting .364 with a homer, four RBI, three steals, and nine runs scored over the last two weeks. He is a cheap piece of an offense that averaged six runs a game in June and scored 10 runs or more seven times. The Astros as a whole were cooking in June and that carried over into July with three homers and seven runs yesterday. Straw has been getting on base a lot, which means he will definitely help you in steals and runs scored, which can be two of the tougher categories to pick up in 5x5 leagues.

Austin Hays (OF, RHB, BAL) - 37% Rostered

Matchup: at LAA RHP Griffin Canning

Hays started the season strong before landing on the IL and then he struggled when he first came off the IL. It looks like he's getting back to his April form of late. Hays is hitting .417 over the last week and has two homers, four runs scored, and six RBI in the last three games alone. Canning has pitched better lately, but we have every reason to believe that Hays will get something here.

Willy Adames (SS, RHB, MIL) - 25.1% Rostered

Matchup: at PIT RHP JT Brubaker

Adames hit the ground running with the Brewers after being traded from the Rays and he hasn't really stopped. Adames is hitting .308 with three homers, a steal, six runs scored, and 10 RBI in the last week alone. His average exit velocity has been over 90 mph in all but one game (where it was 89 mph) since the Summer Solstice. This production isn't a fluke with him hitting the ball this hard.

Hitter Streamers for 7/2 - Deeper Leagues

Michael Taylor (OF, RHB, KC) - 12.2% Rostered

Matchup: vs. MIN LHP J.A. Happ

We all know that Happ has been bad this year. He has been marginally better of late, but he's still barely putting up numbers worthy of a starting pitcher in the major leagues. Taylor is hitting .313 over the last week and homered twice in Boston this week to go with six RBI. Taylor is one of those guys that can be very streaky. He's leaving Boston hot. Let's see if he brings it on home against Happ.

Jon Berti (2B/3B/OF, RHB, MIA) - 11.8% Rostered

Matchup: at ATL LHP Drew Smyly

Injuries have opened up some playing time for Berti. He's showing no signs of giving it back. The acquisition of Joe Panik might throw Berti into a platoon role, but he should definitely be in there against the lefty tonight. Berti is hitting a cool .500 over the last week with a homer, three runs scored, two RBI, and three steals. He's not going to score a ton of runs in this offense, but I'll gladly take the boost to the average and steals in a deeper league.

Brendan Rodgers (2B/SS, RHB, COL) - 10.7% Rostered

Matchup: vs. STL RHP Johan Oviedo

The Cardinals had exiled Oviedo to the bullpen, but an injury to Jack Flaherty threw him back in the rotation. He has failed to make it five innings in all but two of his nine starts. Coors should be a complete nightmare for him. Rogers has four hits in his last five at-bats and is hitting .421 over the last week. He smacked a homer and scored twice last night and is 4-8 on the current homestand. He's definitely worth a look against a struggling guy like Oviedo and a below average bullpen behind him.

Garrett Cooper (1B/OF, RHB, MIA) - 6.1% Rostered

Matchup: at ATL LHP Drew Smyly

Cooper missed three weeks with a balky back, but is hitting .538 with a homer, four RBI, and five runs scored in his three games back. The Marlins are not starting him every day, presumably to ease the strain on his back. He should be back on for tonight after the team had an off day yesterday. At the very least, Cooper should at least be able to help the average out a little.

Pitcher Streamers for 7/2 - Shallow Leagues

Logan Gilbert (RHP, SEA) - 30.3% rostered

Matchup: vs. Texas

The Rangers have won five of their last six games, so it's not like this is a slam dunk. Still, Gilbert has not given up more than four runs in any of his eight starts and he has given up two or less in five of those, all in his last six starts. The 1.08 WHIP is something you don't always see on a rookie, so he's not given away many free points. His 5.4% walk rate is in the 90th percentile. We can be fairly sure that Gilbert will at least get us a quality start without hurting our WHIP and will give us about a strikeout per inning. I'll take that off of waivers.

Pitcher Streamers for 7/2 - Deeper Leagues

Drew Smyly (LHP, ATL) - 17.6% rostered

Matchup: vs. Miami

Smyly did not give up more than three runs in a start for the entire month of June. That included a start against the Marlins and one at Great American Smallpark. When the dust settled, Smyly went 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in five June starts. He's never going to be a big strikeout pitcher, but Smyly has figured out how to get hitters out after a dreadful 8.05 ERA in April. Miami has cooled off after a hot start to June. They really don't have much to be afraid of, so I expect another solid start out of Smyly here.
