After sitting out Thursday's game with a sore hamstring, the Milwaukee Brewers have decided to put their all-star center fielder Carlos Gomez on the 15-day DL.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Gomez is dealing with a small tear in his right hamstring. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined. The 29-year-old received a cortisone shot.
Gomez was off to a slow start in 2015 with a .235 BA and no stolen bases, but he did have six RBI. Over the last two seasons, he was arguably the Brewers' most consistent player, having a .284 BA and 73 RBI in back-to-back seasons as well as 74 SB combined.
Milwaukee is off to a 2-7 start and now could be without Gomez for quite some time. Gerardo Parra will see time in center field in his absence. He's a career .273 hitter in seven MLB seasons. Parra could be a decent temporary fix for the Brewers and fantasy baseball owners of Gomez.
