Houston Texans running back Arian Foster dropped in fantasy football drafts due to a groin injury that was expected to keep him out for several weeks. Initial reports even questioned if he'd be able to return at all this season. Well, his recovery has gone great and it sounds like he's ready to make all those fantasy owners who took him very, very happy.
According to Houston Texans beat writer Tania Ganguli, Foster will play in week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons "barring a setback."
Earlier in the week, Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Foster would be a game-time decision, but all signs point to him seeing the field. We'd expect him to be on some sort of a pitch count until he proves he's fully healthy. But pitch count or not, he's a must-start in all fantasy football leagues if he gets the green light to play against the weak Falcons defense.
If you're wondering about Alfred Blue's role on your fantasy team with Foster back in the lineup, don't drop him just yet. Foster does have an injury history and if he goes down, Blue will still be the team's go-to guy. We'd also expect Blue and Foster to split carries, for at least a couple weeks, to ease Foster back into football.
