Bundesliga Soccer - DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel, Matchday 28 (5/26/20)

Vince Dray's FanDuel DFS lineup picks for Bundesliga soccer on 5/26/20, Matchday 27. His top daily fantasy soccer forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! The first round of midweek Bundesliga games is this week starting with a 3-game slate on Tuesday afternoon. All eyes will be on Der Klassiker (Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund), but that game will not be on the main slate as it kicks off two hours before the afternoon games.

If you're looking for notes for that game, head on over the RotoBaller Premium Slack chat where our group will be chopping it up before that game locks. My first weekend of providing DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller was a success, and I am excited to be back this week and in the foreseeable future.

In this article, I will be providing you with my Bundesliga daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/26/20 for the slate that locks at 2:30 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck RotoBallers!

Bundesliga DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Werder Bremen vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Monchengladbach (-0.5) attackers will surely draw a solid amount of ownership on this slate. They have an elite matchup against a Werder Bremen team that are allowing 2.5 goals per game at home this season. They also only have 1 win at home this season, so Gladbach should be able to win this game.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg

This should be a really fun game. It'll be a battle between two good teams in the top half of the table. Leverkusen (-0.5) are the slight favorites at home, but Wolfsburg's defense will pose them with a challenge like they did last week against Dortmund. Leverkusen's attack has been potent since returning to play scoring 3 goals in their last game and 4 in the previous game. A lot of their players will be attractive plays for the game-log watchers. However, on a small slate sometimes you have to bit the bullet and get scorers into your lineup regardless of ownership.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Freiburg

This game will likely go overlooked with lots of people targeting Monchengladbach or Leverkusen, but this is definitely a spot to find some low-owned gems. Frankfurt (-0.5) is the favorite at home where they have actually been a good team. The nice thing about this game is that there are plenty of value plays to target. It's going to be a good way to differentiate your lineup on Tuesday.

Now let's take a look at some of my top FanDuel DFS selections for the slate!

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

Kai Havertz ($22) is going to be a top-priority play for many. His form is great with 4 goals in 2 games. He also has the best anytime scoring odds on the slate. However, his price keeps rising and this is not a great matchup either. Wolfsburg has one of the better defenses in the league (fourth fewest allowed). They also held Erling Haaland scoreless last week and only conceded twice to Dortmund's powerhouse attack. Paying Havertz is absolutely a viable strategy, but there other players who can get you more bang for your buck. If you're looking to pair Havertz with another Leverkusen attacker, Kerem Demirbay ($18) has been collecting peripherals at a great rate plus he has goal/assist upside. Karim Bellarabi ($14) remains very cheap for his potential too. Either player can also be used if you want cheaper Leverkusen exposure without paying top dollar for Havertz.

Speaking of those players, Alassane Plea ($20) can save you $2 off Havertz.  Plus, he has a better matchup against Werder Bremen's leaky defense. He does trail Havertz in anytime scoring odds (+140 to score versus Havertz's +115), but he is still the second most likely scorer on the slate. Not far behind him is teammate Marcus Thuram ($18). This matchup for Monchengladbach is good enough to roster both of their top scorers. They are the most likely team to score 2+ goals on the slate. Lars Stindl ($12) looks set to get a start on Tuesday, and he'll be a good value play if he does. He should be low-owned.

Frankfurt attackers are also worth a look on this slate at home. Bas Dost ($11) and Filip Kostic ($15) are the players to focus on. This game is projected to be really even from both a goals standpoint and a possession standpoint. There will be action on both ends, so targeting a scorer like Nils Peterson ($14) or Vincenzo Grifo ($15) will be a good way to create some separation with your lineup.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Ramy Bensebaini ($15) is one of the main pay-up defenders to consider on this slate with a plus matchup for him against Werder Bremen. The attacking-minded defender should have plenty of freedom to join his team in their attacking third. His goal/assist upside rivals that of any defender on this slate, but his floor is pretty low so you must be ready to take that risk. The good thing for him here is that an extra 5 points for a clean sheet bonus is a real possibility.

Werder Bremen defenders will be good plays again. They are forced into a lot of defensive action game after game, and that will not change on Tuesday. It is not necessary to pay up for Theodor Gebre Selassie ($14) since he is still priced up from scoring a goal. Both Niklas Moisander ($12) and Milos Veljkovic ($11) are going to be good options with Ludwig Augustinsson ($8) providing a nice punt play if he starts.

A final defender worth a look on Tuesday is Almamy Toure ($13). He has been involved in Frankfurt's attack with a shot on target in each of his last two games and 13 total crosses. He should outscore his price tag with another similar performance with a few other defensive peripheral stats.

FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers

Picking a goalkeeper on this slate is not a fun task. Both Yann Sommer ($15) and Lukas Hradecky ($14) look likely to get the win bonus, but it definitely isn't a lock for either. Hradecky and the Leverkusen defense have been good at home where they only allow 1.0 goals per game, but keeping Wolfsburg scoreless isn't easy either. He makes sense if you're fading Wolfsburg attackers, which somehow doesn't seem hard.

One strategy that I have had success with in the past in this situation is just rostering the cheapest GK on the slate (Koen Casteels, $7) in order to save money for the rest of your lineup. This can work on small slates like this where there are limited good GK options. It's definitely a risky move, but this could be a slate where most GKs don't score well fantasy-wise.

Thanks for reading and good luck, RotoBallers!
