Welcome back, RotoBallers! We are finally starting to get some sports back! In fact, this is the second week that has seen Bundesliga action. The stadiums might be empty, but that doesn't mean that the teams aren't playing to win. The title matchups happened earlier in the week, and the later matchups bring more relegation battles.
In this article, I will be providing you with my Bundesliga daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/30/20 for the slate that locks at 9:30 am ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports.
The main DraftKings DFS slate this week is for four games, and below I'll give a quick preview of each of them (so you know what to expect) and then move onto some names to consider for your lineups. You can always find me on Twitter @RichKingFF if you have any questions. Good luck RotoBallers!
Bundesliga DFS Lineup Picks - Matchups Overview
Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Wolfsburg are chasing for a Europa League playoff, and they need to get a result with other teams following close behind. Eintracht has had an indifferent season, losing their last five games in the league. Wolfsburg will be targetting a win here.
Hertha Berlin vs Augsburg
In recent games, both teams have shown their ability to score goals. Hertha Berlin has scored 7 goals in their last two games, and Augsburg are just coming off the back off a four-goal victory over Schalke.
FSV Mainz 05 vs TSG Hoffenheim
Mainz and Hoffenheim are two teams that seem to have a philosophy of scoring goals. This is a game to target attacking players, rather than defenders.
Schalke vs Werder Bremen
Schalke are having a bad run of form. They have struggled for any positive results recently, culminating in their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Augsburg. However, in a home matchup against their rivals (who have also struggled recently) they should have a chance of bouncing back.
If you aren't familiar with how players score in soccer on DraftKings take a look at their scoring methodology. And to submit a lineup you need to select 1 Goalkeeper, 2 Defenders, 2 Midfielders, 2 Forwards, and a Utility player (most likely a Midfielder/ Forward). If you have any more questions on the setup let me know, you can find me on Twitter @RichKingFF.
Now let's take a look at some of my top DraftKings DFS selections for the week!
DraftKings DFS Midfielders / Forwards
You'll see in going through the slate that there are lots of players that have dual eligibility to be in your midfield or forward slot. Here you are looking for players that are constant scoring threats, as well as players that get involved in wide areas where they can put crosses in.
Christoph Baumgartner ($8,800) is a player that I'm happy to spend up for this week. In his last game, he scored twice and had an assist. While he might not repeat that performance, he is playing well and has a great matchup this week.
Matheus Cunha ($8,200) showcased his ability to get forward last week against Leipzig, although you would need to spend up to get him, he is likely to have low ownership.
However, so that you are able to compete you will need to also add some cheaper options. My favorites for this slate are Wout Weghorst ($6,900), Krzysztof Piatek ($6,800) and Aaron Martin ($6,800).
Weghorst didn't have a great outing in his team's big victory in their last game, but he is the focal point for the team, as their top scorer and penalty taker.
Piatek is a riskier option, as he hasn't started a game in recent weeks. However, despite that he is the favorite to score in the game (anytime scorer market). As he continues his comeback from injury, he could be given more time on the field as a goalscoring threat.
Martin has shown himself to be a key weapon for the team in operating in the wider areas of the field. Combined with the fact that he seems like the may have been given the responsibility on the team's set-piece plays, he could be a safe floor play. If one of his crosses converts, or he is able to get a goal himself he could be a slate-winner given the price.
DraftKings DFS Defenders
Defenders are where it starts to get interesting. In an ideal world, you want a defender who has a good chance of keeping a clean sheet while getting involved in attacking play.
Daniel Brosinski ($6,100) takes the corners for this team, giving him a fantastic floor. Brosinksi gets forward often, putting in crosses for the team and if the team manages to keep a clean sheet (which seems unlikely in the matchup) then he could be a big scorer this week.
Kevin Mbabu ($5,500) is a cheaper option, but one who offers a similar upside as Brosinski. Mbabu gets forward often enough and gets crosses into the box, meaning a baseline of points, and if any of them convert into an assist then he has a good chance of hitting value.
If you are looking at some cheaper options in the slate, then Raphael Framberger ($4,700) and Marco Friedl ($4,600) are two players that you could consider. They are both operate in wide spaces and therefore have put a number of crosses into the box. With an outside chance of keeping a clean sheet, they could be great values.
DraftKings DFS Goalkeepers
For this slate Wolfsburg's Keon Casteels ($5,100) is the best play. Despite the struggles of the team in recent weeks, the team have a chance against Frankfurt this week.
If you are looking to spend down at the position, then Alexander Nubel ($4,600) is a good option. Schalke have disappointed in recent weeks, but are playing at home against a team that has been inconsistent.
And that's it! Any questions, you know where to find me otherwise Viel Glück (good luck) RotoBallers.
