Bundesliga DFS Lineup Picks for DraftKings Soccer - Matchday 28 (5/27/20)

Richard's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Bundesliga Matchday 28 on May 27th, 2020. Read his daily fantasy soccer advice, matchup breakdowns and DFS sleepers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We are finally starting to get some sports back! In fact, this is the second week that has seen Bundesliga action. The stadiums might be empty, but that doesn't mean that the teams aren't playing to win. The title matchups happened earlier in the week, and the later matchups bring more relegation battles.

In this article, I will be providing you with my Bundesliga daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/27/20 for the slate that locks at 2:30 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports.

The main DraftKings DFS slate this week is for four games, and below I'll give a quick preview of each of them (so you know what to expect) and then move onto some names to consider for your lineups. You can always find me on Twitter @RichKingFF if you have any questions. Good luck RotoBallers!

Bundesliga DFS Lineup Picks - Matchups Overview

TSG Hoffenheim vs Cologne

Hoffenheim have not performed at all well since the restart of the competition and face Cologne who are experiencing a mid-season revival. I wouldn't expect Hoffenheim to get much from this game, even with Cologne's shaky defense.

Augsburg vs Paderborn

Augsburg ended their run of four losses with a victory over Schalke in their last outing. That gives them an edge over their relegation rivals, and opposition, for Paderborn. Paderborn has a solid defense but are unable to score. Augsburg has found a way to break defenses down throughout the season, scoring an average of just over 2 goals at home so far- so I'd expect Augsburg to pick up another victory this week.

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Schalke

This game has a draw written all over it unless Dusseldorf are able to get a goal from somewhere. Both teams have had struggles this season, but are capable of scoring goals. Dusseldorf has drawn four of their last six games. While Schalke have struggled to keep teams from scoring, they have equally been unable to score goals.

Union Berlin vs FSV Mainz 05

This is an important fixture for both teams, as they work to avoid being relegated. In games like this, both teams can be cautious to not concede a goal and hope to score one. However, this contest isn't likely to be like that. Instead, both teams are likely to try and play an open game and just try to score one more than their opponent.

If you aren't familiar with how players score in soccer on DraftKings take a look at their scoring methodology. And to submit a lineup you need to select 1 Goalkeeper, 2 Defenders, 2 Midfielders, 2 Forwards, and a Utility player (most likely a Midfielder/ Forward). If you have any more questions on the setup let me know, you can find me on Twitter @RichKingFF.

Now let's take a look at some of my top DraftKings DFS selections for the week!

DraftKings DFS Goalkeepers

At this position, you are really shooting for that clean sheet (meaning no goals conceded). So you can't look much further than Augsburgs's Andreas Luthe ($5,300). Luthe kept a clean sheet in his previous match, and with Paderborn unable to score recently, he should continue that streak.

A slightly cheaper option would be Timo Horn ($4,800) he hasn't been able to keep a clean sheet in any of his past four games. However, he has a chance against Hoffenheim who have be a goal-scoring threat in recent weeks.

DraftKings DFS Defenders

Defenders are where it starts to get interesting. In an ideal world, you want a defender who has a good chance of keeping a clean sheet while getting involved in attacking play.

Chris Trimmel ($6,300) is the most expensive midfielder on the slate, but with great reason. Union Berlin runs their game through him. Truly he plays more like a midfielder than a defender, making him a prime candidate to build your team around. He is involved in set pieces, has a number of assists, and puts in plenty of crosses too.

Niko Giesselmann ($4,500) is an effective player to pivot to if you need to save money for your lineup. He works a wing-back, meaning plenty of crosses put into the box. As well as that, he is involved in corners. That gives him a good baseline of scoring, with an opportunity for a clean sheet if Schalke continues to struggle to score.

DraftKings DFS Midfielders / Forwards

You'll see in going through the slate that there are lots of players that have dual eligibility to be in your midfield or forward slot. Here you are looking for players that are constant scoring threats, as well as players that get involved in wide areas where they can put crosses in.

Mark Uth ($10,900) is the most expensive player on the slate, but that is due to his involvement in the offense. He takes penalties, free kicks and is pivotal in scoring for the team (as a scorer, or in assisting others). There are also two players worth considering in the same game- Florian Kainz ($9,100) and Pavel Kaderabek ($7,700). Kainz might not be popular because of his high price, but with corner duties as well his crossing threat should give him a decent scoring opportunity. Kaderabek takes set-pieces too, which gives him plenty of opportunities to add to his crosses and shots totals.

Kai Proger ($8,700) is entrusted with set pieces for his team and has recorded huge cross numbers. If Proger manages to get on the scoresheet, which is a rarity, he will have huge value in your lineup. Philip Max ($8,000) is worth considering, as he takes all of the corners for the team, meaning plenty of chances for an assist. Adding to that the fact he operates out wide and gets forward to shoot often, he has a safe floor. A cheaper option is Niederlechner ($7,400) he is one of a few offensive options for the team and goes up against one of the worst defenses in the league.

Daniel Caligiuri ($6,800) is one of the cheaper options on the slate who could return value. Schalke might not be expected to get anything from their game, but if they do it will come through Caligiuri. He is a great threat going forwards, but I wouldn't guarantee a big points haul from him.

And that's it! Any questions, you know where to find me otherwise Viel Glück (good luck) RotoBallers.
