ANALYSIS: The swiss army knife of baseball finally has an everyday gig for the Boston Red Sox. If you drafted him late or stashed him as a low end fantasy player it is about to pay huge dividends for you. Boston has had enough of Rusney Castillo's inconsistency and Brock Holt is now the starting left fielder. He should get most of the starts against RHP and should still spell several regulars for the Red Sox all season long. The guy is the very definition of a professional hitter without a ton of flash or style but just flat out production.
Holt had six career HR coming in to this season and has already added a few long balls to his 2016 resume along with hitting over .400 and an OPS above 1.300. Holt is going to hit in the bottom third of the lineup when he plays which actually balances out the lineup further by giving opposing pitchers an equal threat at all three tiers of the lineup. Is Holt going to have a breakout campaign with his power or his speed? Probably not. But most fantasy owners just want guys who play a lot and produce when they play. How does a .350 BABIP, .290 BA and a .370 OBP for the season sound to you? Throw in the occasional HR and SB to go along with all those position eligibilities and you have yourself a gold mine.
