Analysis: The Minnesota Twins have just 12 saves in 2016. Seven of them are held by Kevin Jepsen who has a 6.16 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, and was just DFA. One save is held by Fernando Abad who has a 6.23 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and has walked 6.23 batters per 9 IP since May. For the Twins closer spot, that leaves Brandon Kintzler. Kintzler has a 2.28 ERA and 0.930 WHIP in 23.2 IP this year. He has some mediocre isolated numbers like 1.5 HR/9 and just 6.1 K/9, but his command of the strike zone is phenomenal. With just two walks on the season, he has a fantastic 0.8 BB/9 and his K/BB ratio of 8.00 is 5th in the AL behind just Andrew Miller, Liam Hendriks, Aroldis Chapman, and Dellin Betances which is especially impressive considering those four relievers out-whiff Kintzler by an average difference of 7.65 K/9. With his elite control, newly given save opportunities, and very little competition for replacement, 31-year old Brandon Kintzler is a great roster acquisition for Fantasy Baseball Managers.
