The Buffalo Bills got the seven-year itch after 10 solid years with running back Fred Jackson. Bills GM Doug Whaley announced on Monday that the 34-year old Jackson was one of the 12 players that Buffalo were forced to cut in order to reduce their roster.
“Today, we had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson,” Whaley said in a statement. “He had an incredible career for this organization for the past 10 years. We thank Fred for his hard work, dedication, and leadership during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills.”
After the news of his release broke, many speculated where the veteran running back would land, one of which IS NOT the Dallas Cowboys, who were a little too quick to maintain they have no interest in signing Jackson, seeing as Lance Dunbar, Joseph Randle, and Darren McFadden apparently have a lock on the Cowboys' ground game. Dallas was one of the first cities that most assumed Jackson would be attracted to considering he was born in Fort Worth.
However, there can only be one stupidly excessive injury-prone player on a team at a time, and McFadden has the market cornered on that position with Dallas, leaving Jackson (who missed a great deal of training camp with a hamstring injury) out in the cold.
