Just when it looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers could finally play with all of their starters healthy for once, Le'Veon Bell suffered a season-ending injury last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. That opened the door for veteran running back DeAngelo Williams to take over as the lead back. Williams started the first two games of the season while Bell sat out due to suspension, rushing 41 times for 204 yards and three touchdowns during that time. Those of you who were lucky enough to snag him off of waivers (or kept him in deeper leagues) will see instant results today against the Oakland Raiders.
Those 204 yards were best in the AFC for those two weeks, and now the Steelers and fantasy owners alike will see how much gas is left in the tank. It'll also be interesting how they incorporate Williams into the passing game as well, and how many touches he will get going forward.
As unfortunate as the loss of Bell is, the return of Ben Roethlisberger should set Antonio Brown back on track after he struggled to produce with Michael Vick and Landry Jones at quarterback. In four games he had no touchdowns and never got more than 10 targets in any of those games. Martavis Bryant seems to be on the right track after returning from his four-game suspension, leading the Steelers with 231 yards and three touchdowns since Week 6.
Heath Miller should be able to get in on the action too, with Oakland giving up six touchdowns to tight ends in seven games. The Raiders have given up 302 passing yards per game, good for second-worst in the league. Oakland will also be traveling east for a 1PM game, giving Pittsburgh an even bigger advantage today. This Raiders secondary is in for a long day today and Big Ben will look to tear it up today and get his team back to its winning ways.
