As all of Antonio Brown's owners know, his performance is directly linked to the presence of Ben Roethlisberger. When Roethlisberger is at the helm, Brown is essentially guaranteed to give you a solid, if not extraordinary performance. Without Roethlisberger though, Brown's production dips significantly. With that being said, at the conclusion of Sunday's game between the Steelers and the Raiders, Brown's owners left with a very bittersweet taste in their mouth.
Antonio Brown had an absolutely jaw-dropping performance in the Steelers 38-35 win over the Raiders, hauling in 17 catches for a whopping 284 yards, setting franchise records for both receptions and receiving yards. Brown showcased his versatility all day, catching the ball short, long, and in-between in a virtuoso performance. Brown would have had an even better performance had Roethlisberger not missed him for a wide-open score early in the game. Brown is easily the best wide receiver in fantasy, and arguably the best PLAYER in fantasy when Roethlisberger is throwing him the ball. Big Ben and Brown clearly have a chemistry that is unlike any other quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the NFL, and that shows up in the numbers.
Despite Brown's huge performance and a Pittsburgh victory, things weren't all peachy for the Steelers at the end of the game. Ben Roethlisberger, only two weeks removed from returning from an MCL injury and bone bruise to his left knee, suffered a left foot injury on a sack from Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith. Roethlisberger was carted to the locker room after the injury, which led many, including the Steelers, to believe the injury was a more serious LisFranc injury. After being examined, it was found that Big Ben had suffered a mid-foot sprain, which will keep him out for a few weeks. Though this is bad news for Steelers fans and Antonio Brown owners, the situation could have been much worse. Landry Jones, who completed a 57-yard pass to Brown in the final minute of Pittsburgh's victory, will be likely in line to start in Week 10's matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
