Analysis: Antonio Andrews is a serviceable back who runs tough, falls forward and punishes tacklers. He's also a slower runner on a bad team who is losing carries to two other backfield mates already (Dexter McCluster and Bishop Sankey), and potentially more to rookie David Cobb who is back from the IR/DTR.
Andrews saw his rushing yardage totals increase every game from Week 2 to Week 8. He rumbled for 88 yards against the listless Saints (it would have been 70 if not for an extra possession in overtime during which he added 18 more) before being bottled up in a big way last week against the Panthers. At this point in the second-year, undrafted back's 84-carry career, what you see is what you get, and that is a 3.5 YPC average, no scores since Week 2, and not much in the passing game.
Andrews saw Dexter McCluster and Bishop Sankey take seven carries away last week. Now comes the expected debut of rookie fifth-rounder David Cobb, who the Titans undoubtedly want to get a long look at before the campaign ends.
The Titans come off a short week for a Thursday meeting with Jacksonville, who boast the best run defense in the league allowing just 3.3 YPC. They turn around and play the Jags again two weeks later. While the running back position is always thin at this time in the year, there is just too much working against Andrews to consider him any more than a low-end RB3 going forward. If you're considering him as your flex, find a better option at WR.
