The 2015 fantasy football year is looking to be remarkably similar to that of 2012, when Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was flying off the board as the number one pick (you remember that year – when all quarterback Christian Ponder had to do was wake up long enough to yawn and pass the ball off to Peterson).
On September 12, 2013, much to the dismay of the general public, Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges and was deactivated during Week 2, until he was placed on the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list on the 17th, before being permanently suspended for the remainder of the 2014-15 season on November 18th.
Those who drafted Peterson in the first round of their leagues probably would have rather gotten a herniated disc and have JaMarcus Russell sit on their back than lose such a pivotal top tier running back.
On Tuesday, Peterson and the Vikings agreed to restructure the final three years of his contract to include “additional security” (that he would be guaranteed $20 million at signing). Considering he’s kept in shape during his suspension and feels he has something to prove, chances are fantasy football team owners will place Peterson as a high first round pick once again.
