BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of Yahoo leagues
ANALYSIS: Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Adam Ottavino has seen his ownership numbers skyrocket after his fast start to the season, now being rostered in one-fifth of all leagues. Pretty crazy for a guy who held an ERA and FIP above five last season and is not a closer or starting pitcher.
You only have to go back to late 2016/early 2017 though to get a sense of the type of talent he is and can be. In six innings so far, he has allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 11, easily the best numbers out there for any reliever right now. The success may be attributed to a slight uptick in velocity, but likely, it has to do with him scrapping his four-seamer and going with a mostly sinker/slider mix. Sure it's a small sample size, but the swings and misses are up a ton and his overall command has been outstanding.
He has worked his way back into the set-up mix, and if anything were to happen to Wade Davis, could very well be next in line for saves. He might not be a great player to throw a bunch of FAAB at, but he is performing well and is a good handcuff to Davis.
