BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ and AL-Only Leagues
OWNED IN: 4% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: It seemed like all hope had been lost on the former first round draft pick Aaron Hicks. That was until the promotion of another highly touted prospect Byron Buxton changed that outlook. It lit a fire underneath Hicks, and he is proving why he belongs in the Minnesota outfield.
Now that Hicks is getting somewhat regular at-bats, he is simply getting on base. His BB% is near 9%, his K totals are the lowest they have ever been, and he is contributing in every category. Fantasy owners are eager to see if the improvement lasts.
Hicks is going to hit in the bottom third of the lineup which can still have its advantages on an AL team. His .333 wOBA is creeping back to his early minor league days when he was starting off as a high ranked prospect. His 112 wRC+ also makes him viable in the much improving Twins offense.
Hicks may lose playing time with Buxton making his way back, but if Torii Hunter struggles down the stretch, manager Paul Molitor could turn to a younger outfield core to take them to the playoffs. Hicks is riding a hot streak. In deep leagues, owners can afford to take a chance to see if Hicks has truly turned the corner on his development.
