In any fantasy baseball draft the pool of players at first base is always the deepest. This provides ample time to fill other needs before settling on a lesser player when unable to draft Paul Goldschmidt or Miguel Cabrera. There are a surplus of first basemen that are capable of hitting over 25 homeruns and driving in at least 85 RBI. Adrian Gonzalez’s consistency, despite his numbers declining slightly with age, makes him a solid bang for your buck, but his type is also a dime a dozen.
RotoBaller believes Adrian Gonzalez is the ninth best fantasy first baseman. Eric Hosmer, Prince Fielder, Brandon Belt, Albert Pujols, Lucas Duda, and Mark Teixeira are the six players ranked right behind Gonzalez, respectively. All six, and the list goes on, have the potential, and likely will, put up numbers comparable to A-Gon’s. So if you see what seems like all the great first basemen being drafted and you’re scared to be left with the scraps, HAVE NO FEAR! Several other powerful men are here… Don’t worry about holding off just a bit on the big guys, fill your teams other needs, prioritize, and settle for any of the players mentioned in and around that list.
