Framber Valdez Resumes Throwing
4 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez (finger) has started throwing again, according to general manager James Click. While Valdez has resumed throwing, he's only doing so on flat ground, but it's an encouraging step forward after he was put on the 10-day injured list at the beginning of the year due to a fracture in his left ring finger. The 27-year-old left-hander suffered the injury in spring training, and there is no clear timetable for his return. If Valdez had needed surgery, he might have had to miss the entire 2021 season. The southpaw had a breakout in 2020, going 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while averaging 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings. Valdez could be a solid fantasy asset whenever he returns, making him a stash candidate in deeper leagues if you have the roster space.
